Have you had the OBD codes read ? if not do that and send codes if not able to get them yourself , as only letter and numbers , try a code reset and see if that clears the issues as can sometimes be the only thing needed

Steering is in a bind were wireless key cannot activate. Move steering wheel to the left and right while trying to start. I had the same problem and this is what the Nissan dealership told me to do. I't worked like a dream.

How do I solve for My Hyundai sonata model 2009 code P2110 , P2118 in scaning. I changed throttle body and TP sensor. after change of these even I am getting problem in accelerator not increases above

P2110...Faulty Throttle Actuator Control Module
- Throttle Actuator Control Module harness is open or shorted
- Throttle Actuator Control Module circuit poor electrical connection

P2118 - Electronic Throttle Control(ETC) system is made of the components throttle body, Throttle Position Sensor(TPS)1&2 and Accelerator Position Sensor(APS) 1&2. The throttle body contains the actuator, the throttle plate and the throttle position sensor (potentiometer), which are integrated in one housing. The actuator consists of a DC motor with a two-stage gear. The opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor which is mounted on the throttle body. And it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle motor in order to control the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to the driving condition.

After a long trip in my 2001 325i, the engine suddenly would not start after a quick stop. It was turning over fine, but would not idel. My uncle, as mechanic (specializing in US makes) climbed under the...

While I agree that the fuel pump would be the most likely suspect for this car failing to restart, if it is the fuel pump, however, the fact that it started after tapping hard on the throttle would be pure coincidence.
I believe that all e46s have used drive-by-wire throttles. That is - there is no throttle cable between the gas pedal and the throttle. The gas pedal generates an electronic signal that tells the computer where your foot is, and the computer opens the throttle. You say that the car experienced a sudden stop. Did the engine get shut off while the throttle was open? If so, perhaps flooring the throttle caused the electronically controlled throttle to cycle and reset itself (just a theory).
Listen for the hum of the fuel pump when you turn the key to the On position, before you turn the key to the crank position. The hum should last only a second or so. The pump shuts off after the system is pressurized. If you don't hear that hum when the car fails to start (if this happens again), then you have a fuel pump problem.

My '99 Ford Ranger (while on cruise control) just shut off while I was driving. Electronics work but engine shut off. Engine turns over but doesn't start up. Any ideas?

2 things to do. Listen at the tank for the fuel pump to humm for 5 seconds when you turn the key to ON.

2. Spray some starting fluid into the throttle body and see if it starts for a few seconds then. If yes, it is probably the pump, slim chance it's the fuel pump relay.

How hard is it to change a fuel pump in 1996 nissan maxima. the car seem like it getting no gas and sometime cutt-off while idling. i change the fuel filter, problem still occur. beside fuel pump what else...

If it drives at highway speed....you do not need a pump.
Do you have a "check engine" light on?
Hopefully you do....as it will show you a code to help cure the problem.
I would start with a throttle body cleaning.

If you want to access the fuel pump......remove the back seat....bottom seat.
Remove the cover on the floor.....under the seat.....there's the pump.

2004 nissan maxima

Posible throttle assembly/throttle actuator failure. This car has an electronic throttle, not cable operated. We have seen some issues with those and the car will do exactly what you are descibing. Revs up to about 2500 and goes only 10mph. Just a tip.
