OIL PAN
Removal & Installation
1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine torque strut. Raise and support vehicle. Drain
crankcase. Disconnect oil level sensor electrical connector. Remove oil level sensor and oil filter.
Disconnect front exhaust pipe from manifold. Remove right front wheel and splash shield.
2. Disconnect oil cooler pipes. Disconnect A/C compressor electrical connector. Remove A/C compressor,
and position aside. Disconnect engine mounts from frame.
3. Remove flexplate access cover. Use transmission jack at transaxle to raise engine. Remove oil pan bolts
and oil pan. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install oil level sensor after oil pan is installed. Tighten
retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.

Take engine out of 1995 cadillac sts

6L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct.
  3. Matchmark the hood hinge-to-hood and remove the hood.
  4. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
  5. Remove the left and right torque struts. Install the left front strut bolt back into the bracket.
  6. Disconnect the radiator hoses at the water crossover. Remove both cooling fans from the engine.
  7. Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt.
  8. Detach the cruise control servo connections and the ISC motor electrical connector.
  9. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body cam. Disconnect the shift cable from the park/neutral switch. Remove the cable bracket at the transaxle.
  10. Remove the park/neutral switch and disconnect the power brake vacuum hose.
  11. At the rear of the right head, disconnect the cylinder head temperature switch.
  12. Remove the bellhousing bolts.
  13. Remove the ignition coils and remove the spark plug wires.
  14. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  15. Remove the oil pan-to-transmission brace. Remove the torque converter splash shield and the four converter-to-flywheel bolts.
  16. Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the oil filter adapter.
  17. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts and detach the electrical connectors. Move compressor out of way.
  18. Detach the electrical connectors from the left side of the engine and move the harness from behind the exhaust manifold.
  19. Remove the two nuts that secure the motor mount to the engine cradle front crossmember.
  20. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe and remove the right front wheel.
  21. Remove the crankcase to transmission bracket at the transmission tail shaft. Disconnect the knock sensor.
  22. Remove the bolt from the transmission to the cylinder head brace at the cylinder head.
  23. Lower the vehicle. Disconnect the fuel inlet and fuel return lines using special tool J37088 or equivalent.
  24. Detach the injector harness connector and the hoses from the coolant reservoir. Remove the reservoir.
  25. Disconnect the cam position sensor. Disconnect the heater hoses from the water pipes at the front of the right cylinder head.
  26. Disconnect the battery cable from the junction block and remove the retainer at the cylinder head.
  27. Disconnect the starter cable from the junction block.
  28. Disconnect the power steering pump pressure and return lines at the pump. Return power steering line retainer from the right front of the crankcase.
  29. Disconnect the rear oxygen sensor.
  30. Remove the three screws securing the wiring harness retainer to right cam cover and position harness out of the way.
  31. Connect an engine-lifting device to the engine using the support hooks at left and right rear of engine. The torque strut bracket at the left front of the engine should be used as a third lifting hook.
  32. Carefully remove the engine from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Lower the engine into the vehicle. Remove the lifting device.
  2. Install the 4 bell housing bolts and tighten to 75 ft. lbs. (100 Nm).
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Install 2 nuts to the motor mount at the front cradle crossmember. Do not fully tighten.
  5. Install bolt to the cylinder head for transmission brace. Do not fully tighten.
  6. Install the transmission to crankcase bracket with the 4 bolts. Do not fully tighten the bolts.
  7. Tighten the motor mount to cradle crossmember bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm). Tighten the transmission brace bolt and transmission to crankcase bolts to 45 ft. lbs. (60 Nm).
  8. Install the right front wheel and connect the knock sensor.
  9. Install the exhaust Y-pipe.
  10. Install the 4 torque converter to flywheel bolts and tighten to 45 ft. lbs. (60 Nm).
  11. Install the converter splash shield and install the transmission to oil pan brace. Tighten the bolt to 35 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  12. Position the A/C compressor in place and install the mounting bolts.
  13. Route the electrical harness along the left side of the engine and connect the connectors.
  14. Connect the oil cooler lines to the oil filter adapter.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Secure the wiring harness to the right cam cover with the 3 screws.
  17. Connect the rear oxygen sensor and connect the cam position sensor.
  18. Connect the power steering hoses to the pump and secure the return line to the crankcase.
  19. Connect the heater hoses to the water pipes.
  20. Connect the starter and battery cables at the junction box. Secure battery cable with retainer.
  21. Connect and install the coolant reservoir.
  22. Install coils and secure with 4 screws.
  23. Install the serpentine drive belt and connect the injector harness to the FIS harness.
  24. Connect the fuel line connectors. Connect the cylinder head temperature switch to the rear of the right head.
  25. Connect the power brake vacuum line.
  26. Install the park/neutral switch and shift cable. Adjust switch if necessary.
  27. Install the cruise servo and connect the ISC motor.
  28. Connect the throttle cable and install both cooling fans.
  29. Connect the radiator hoses to the water crossover.
  30. Install the torque struts and adjust the preload to zero.
  31. Connect the negative battery cable.
  32. Refill the engine with coolant. Install the hood and install the air cleaner.
  33. Start the engine and check for oil, coolant, or transaxle leaks.

POSITION THE CHAIN ON THE PUMP AND SPROCKET AND INSTALL THE SPROCKET.TORQUE BOLT TO 35 FT LBS VERIFY THAT THE CHAIN IS POSITION CORRECTLY. ADJUST THE CHAIN SAG TO 0.315 - 0.472 INCHES 8 - 12MM BY TURNING THE HEXAGON ADAPTER IN THE OIL PUMP, THEN INSTALL THE LEFT SIDE MOUNTING BOLT. INSTALL OR CONNECT THE FOLLOWING. How to replace a radiator on a1994 toyota land cruiser

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Drain engine coolant.
  3. Remove battery and tray,
  4. Remove radiator grille
  5. Disconnect No. 3 water bypass hose.
  6. Disconnect radiator inlet hose.
  7. Disconnect coolant reservoir hose.
  8. Loosen water pump pulley mounting bolts.
  9. Loosen lock, pivot and adjusting bolts of alternator and remove drive belts.
  10. Disconnect oil cooler hose from clamp on fan shroud, then remove shroud.
  11. Remove water pump pulley mounting nuts.
  12. Remove fan with fluid coupling, water pump pulley and fan shroud.
  13. Disconnect transmission oil cooler hoses.
  14. Disconnect radiator outlet hose.
  15. Remove radiator brackets, then the radiator.
  16. Reverse procedure to install.

Need to do oil change. can not find oil pan. where is it located


1. Remove the upper radiator hose. Remove the wiper module and support bracket.

  1. Disconnect and plug the compressor outlet hose at the compressor and remove the bolt retaining the hose assembly to the right coil bracket. Cap the compressor outlet.
  2. Remove the engine harness connector from the retaining bracket on the brake vacuum booster and detach the connector and transmission harness connector.
  3. Disconnect the throttle valve cable from the throttle body and disconnect the heater outlet hose.
  4. Remove the nut retaining the ground strap to the right cylinder head. Remove the upper stud and loosen the lower bolt retaining the heater outlet hose to the right cylinder head and position out of the way.
  5. Remove the blower motor resistor. Remove the bolt retaining the right engine mount to the lower engine bracket.
  6. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the EGR valve and tube. Remove the 2 bolts retaining the EGR valve to the intake manifold.
  7. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Drain the crankcase and remove the engine mount through bolts.
  8. Remove the EGR tube line nut from the right exhaust manifold and remove the EGR valve and tube assembly.
  9. Disconnect the exhaust from the exhaust manifolds. Lower the exhaust system and support it with wire from the crossmember.
  10. Position a jack and a block of wood under the oil pan, rearward of the oil drain hole. Raise the engine approximately 4 in. and insert 2 wood blocks approximately 2 1 / 2 in. thick under each engine mount. Lower the engine onto the wood blocks and remove the jack.
  11. Remove the 16 bolts retaining the oil pan to the engine block and remove the oil pan.

It may be necessary to loosen, but not remove, the 2 nuts on the rear transmission mount and with a jack, raise the transmission extension housing slightly to remove the pan.
  1. If necessary, remove the 2 bolts retaining the oil pickup tube to the oil pump and remove the bolt retaining the pickup tube to the main bearing stud spacer. Remove the pickup tube.

How to replace water pump 2003 alero. 3400 engine.

Removal & Installation 2.2L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold..
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Right front wheel and tire assembly.
    • Right front fender liner. chevy_cav_02-04_accescover.gif

    • Access plate on the water pump sprocket from the timing cover.
  6. Install J 43651 water pump sprocket holder or equivalent to the water pump sprocket.
  7. Use the access plate bolts to attach J43651 to the engine front cover.
  8. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Bolts that secure the sprocket to the water pump.
    • Bolt that secures the engine block to the water pump.
    • Bolt that secures the engine front cover to the water pump.
    • Feed pipe that joins the thermostat housing to the water pump. chevy_cav_02-04_wp.gif

    • 2 Bolts that secure the water pump to the engine block.
    • Water pump.
To Install:
  1. Use a threaded stud in the hub to align the water pump sprocket.
  2. Install or connect the following:
    • Water pump.
    • 2 bolts that secure the water pump to the engine block.
    • Feed pipe that joins the thermostat housing to the water pump.
    • Front cover bolt and the bolt that secures the engine block to the water pump. Tighten the bolts to 15 ft lbs (20 Nm).
    • 2 of the bolts that secure the water pump sprocket to the water pump.
  3. Remove the threaded stud.
  4. Install the last bolt.
    • Tighten the bolts to 89 in lbs (10 Nm).
  5. Remove J 43651.
  6. Install the access plate on the water pump sprocket to the timing cover.
  7. Install the access plate bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts to 18 in lbs (10 Nm).
  8. Install the front fender liner.
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel.
  10. If equipped with an automatic transmission, install the exhaust manifold.
  11. Fill the cooling system.
  12. Connect the battery ground cable.
2.4L Engine To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold.
  4. Remove the coolant intake pipe as follows:
    1. Remove the coolant inlet pipe bolts.
    2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
    3. Remove the engine splash shield.
    4. Remove the bolts from the transaxle-to-engine block brace and remove the brace.
    5. Remove the radiator hose from the coolant inlet pipe.
    6. Remove the coolant inlet pipe to oil pan bolt.
    7. Remove the coolant inlet pipe, thermostat and seal.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Disconnect the heater hose quick connect from the heater outlet pipe.
  7. Remove the front timing chain cover and the chain tensioner.
  8. Unfasten the water pump-to-cylinder block bolts.
  9. Remove the water pump-to-timing chain housing nuts.
  10. Remove the water pump and cover mounting bolts and nuts.
  11. Remove the water pump and cover as an assembly. Separate the two pieces after removal.
  12. Clean the mating surfaces.
To Install:
  1. Install the water pump cover to the water pump assembly.
  2. Install and hand tighten the pump cover mounting bolts.
  3. Install water pump cover assembly.
  4. Install and hand tighten the cover-to-block mounting bolts.
  5. Install and hand tighten the water pump-to-timing chain housing nuts.
    • Tighten the water pump-to-timing chain housing mounting nuts to 19 ft lb (26 Nm).
    • Tighten the water pump cover-to-water pump mounting bolts to 124 in lb (14 Nm).
    • Tighten the water pump cover-to-engine block bolts starting with the bottom bolt first to 19 ft lb (26 Nm).
  6. Install the heater hose to the water pump pipe.
  7. Using new gaskets, install the exhaust manifold.
  8. Install the oil level indicator and tube.
  9. Connect the brake vacuum tube to the cam housing.
  10. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  11. Install the catalytic converter.
  12. Install the coolant inlet pipe.
    • Tighten the inlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt to 19 ft lb (26 Nm). Tighten the coolant inlet pipe bolt to 124 in lb (14 Nm).
  13. Install the timing chain and tensioner.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Connect the oxygen sensor.
  16. Fill cooling system and check the system for leaks.
3.4L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Drive belt.
    • Water pump pulley bolts and pulley.
    • Water pump bolts, pump and gasket.
    • Clean the water pump mating surfaces.
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Water pump gasket and pump.
    • Water pump bolts.
      1. Tighten the water pump bolts to 89 in lbs (10 Nm).
    • Water pump pulley and bolt until snug.
    • Drive belt.
  2. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 18 ft. lbs (25 Nm).
  3. Fill the cooling system.
  4. Check for leaks.
  5. Connect the battery ground cable.

Removal & Installation

2.2L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine coolant.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    Exhaust manifold, if equipped with n automatic transaxle Right front wheel Splash shield Water pump sprocket access plate from the timing cover

  5. Attach Water Pump Sprocket Holding Tool J 43651to the sprocket using the access plate bolts to secure the tool to the engine front cover.

To install:
  1. Use a threaded stud in the water pump hub to align the hub to the water pump sprocket.
    Water pump and bolts Thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe Engine front cover bolt and engine block to water pump bolt. Tighten the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) 2 of the water pump sprocket to water pump bolts
  2. Remove the threaded stud.
    Last water pump sprocket to water pump bolt and tighten the sprocket bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  3. Remove the tool.
    Water pump sprocket access plate to the timing cover and tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) Splash shield Right front wheel Exhaust manifold, if removed
  4. Fill the cooling system.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
2.4L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    WARNING Do not rotate the flex coupling more than 4 degrees or damage may occur. Where is the oil drain plug

It's to the rear of the oil pan which is located slightly to the side/rear of the front passenger side tire. There's a diamond like pattern on it that you can't miss.

Section 03-01: Engine, 4.6L (4V) 1997 Continental Workshop Manual IN-VEHICLE SERVICE Oil Pan/Oil Pump Screen Cover and Tube Removal
  1. Turn rear suspension leveler compressor switch (5K761) off (located in luggage compartment).
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Remove oil level dipstick (6750).
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  1. Remove dual converter Y pipe (5F250). Refer to Section 09-00 .
  1. Drain engine oil from crankcase.
  1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from the low oil level sensor connector.
  1. Remove the power steering pressure hose retainer brackets from the engine front cover studs (two places). Position the power steering pressure hose (3A719) out of the way.
  1. Remove 16 bolts retaining oil pan (6675) to cylinder blocks (6010) and remove oil pan and oil pan gasket (6710).
  1. Remove two bolts retaining oil pump screen cover and tube (6622) to oil pump (6600).
  1. Remove bolt retaining oil pump screen and cover and tube support brace to main bearing stud spacer.
  1. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube. Discard O-ring.

        Installation
        1. Inspect oil pump screen cover and tube and replace if necessary.
        1. Position oil pump screen cover and tube on oil pump with a new O-ring and hand-start two bolts.
        1. Install bolt retaining oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer finger-tight.
        1. Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube-to-oil pump bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in). Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer bolt to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb-ft).
        1. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage.
        1. Clean sealing surfaces of engine front cover (6019) and cylinder blocks with a clean cloth. If scraping is required, only use plastic-tipped scrapers to prevent damaging the aluminum sealing surfaces.
        1. Position new oil pan gasket on oil pan.
        1. Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 where engine front cover meets cylinder blocks and crankshaft rear oil seal retainer meets cylinder blocks. Position oil pan on cylinder blocks and install 16 bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence to 20 Nm (14 lb-ft), then rotate an additional 60 degrees clockwise.
