Rear doors and hatch will not lock with remote or from inside

2004 Chevy Tahoe: Rear doors and hatch will not lock with remote or from inside switch, but will unlock with either. There is no way to manually lock the hatchback either. Is this a fuse problem? A wiring problem? A programming problem? If not what is the fix?

Thank you

2001 Chevy Blazer - I pushed the rear hatch button to open it. Now the rear hatch won't open at all. I also can't lock my doors while inside since I pushed the rear hatch button.

sounds like something may be shorted in your rear hatch switch and when you pushed the button to open it you may have blown a fuse. I would check your fuse and make sure they are all still good. I would also try to look inside the rear hatch and check the wires and see if there is something wrong with one of them.

So far, what I have tried hasn't worked. Guess I will have to take off door panel. But which door? Driver side door locks and unlocks with remote, with key and with inside door switch. Passenger door...

Since the driver's door gets the most use, and all circuits run through the master switch, check driver's door first and check the wiring at the hinge area for breaks.

I have a 99 chevy tahoe that will not lock the doors unless I use the keychain remote or puch each lock down, same with unlocking. The lock button on both the driveside and passenger side do not work. Also...

With regards to the lock bittons on the driver and passenger side its the button themselves aka switch(s) that is your culprit. Why because the remote is getting the motor to open and close them . The only thing that doesn't is the buttons /switches themselves .
Now the rear latch a little different animal. Either the locking mechanism on the door itself is defective or the motor ( the thing you hear clicking) is weak.
This one your gonna need a shop manual for to do the correct testing. But being that te remote will not move it and neither will the manual push button I would lean towards the locking mechanism on the hatch/door its self. Use the shop manual its not that bad of a fix if you have a little patience.

Problem The rear hatch door will not unlock.

First, on the rear hatch, there is an actuator. On FX, when you close the trunk, it kind of **** the hatch closed all the way. When you press lock on the remote, this same actuator locks it as well.
Now,
1) when you unlock the car from the inside, go back there and press the button to open the hatch door manually, do you here any noises?
2) Close all doors, go back close to the hatch button and using the remote , lock the car and then unlock the car. you should hear a sound from the actuator locking and unlocking the lock on the rear hatch!

If you don't hear this, your actuator is inop.
Next step would be to check the fuses inside the car, on the left bottom driver side, and outside on the battery compartment.
It might be just a fuse.
If all fuses check ok, your actuator is most likely gone! Not ea expensive fix, just time consuming!

NOW, if you can hear the noises, then something is either broken inside the actuator or one of the cables is loose!
Hope that helps.
Also, what year and miles on your fx?

96 Chevy Tahoe door lock problem

Hello Scullen27,

While I vigorously recommend owners wanting to work on their own vehicles should purchase the FACTORY WORKSHOP MANUALS... for one time little jobs there are a FEW good alternatives... that ae also FREE.

BBB Industries
maintains an very excellent technical database
for popular USA market vehicles:
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS
and Circuit wiring diagrams
(
registration is required... as these are real documents)

A fuse would seem to be indicated ...
if your
control is sound a relay operation... but the
REAR-HATCH is not cooperating... THAT WOULD
be the place to start,

Hope this helps...

Power locks for rear doors and hatch not unlocking

you have two relays on the interior fuse block one for locking and one for unlocking. Swap them and see if the problem is now such that they will not lock. If so you have your answer.
