What type of gas cap fo 2007 saturn outlook to stop engine light to come on

Vent valve or purge valve leaking . What light comes back on ? Check engine ?Any codes stored ?

use SAE 5W-30
Sometimes ... but not always ... look at the oil fill cap on the engine. Some manufacturers list the suggested oil type on top of the oil fill cap

Ok what about transmission codes most obd2 readers wont read trans codes or its a short in the computer

Stop by an Auto Zone they will hook up to it for free and tell you the code that is causing the C.E.L. but yes a loose gas cap could cause a CEL to come on.

Disconect the battery for 30 min to reset the computer in the car, if the light is still on then you can purchase a code reader at any local automotive supply store and clear it yourself.

When the light comes on, stop driving. It could be the alternator burned out, but it could also be that the belt broke or came loose. So you risk not only ruining the battery, but also overheating and ruining the engine.
First check the belts and batter terminals.
Loose or corroded terminals will also make the light come on.
Now that you have allowed the battery to discharge, you need to put it on a charger and bring it back up to full charge.
If you try to avoid this by jump starting the car, most likely you will ruin the alternator even if it was not already bad, because a bad battery will take more than a normal alternator can safely put out.

Then put a voltmeter across the battery.
It should read 12.5 volts.
When you crank it there should be a drop to about 10.
Then when you rev the engine, it must go over 14.
If not, the charging system is not working and if there is no loose wire or engine ground connection, you will have to try replacing the alternator.

Plug a Kiwi3 into ODB port and use ODB software on your cell phone. That should point at the problem.

under the glove box, you'll set a panel with 2 plastic pressure pins. using a pair of pliers, just pull from the center and remove both of them. the entire panel will be free, and the fuse block is on the far right side, (closest to the passenger door) you'll need a good light and small hands....the engineers did NOT give you a lot of room in there!

Best to rent a scanner and check for other problems. If ok, the scanner will clear the light. If you bought a vented cap, the trouble will remain until a sealed cap is installed.
