Why does the Truck 2005 Silverado 4.3 engine die while driving. Has a new fuel pump and a tune up 3 months ago?

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

Have the fuel pump checked it may be weak.

also check the crank sensor and the main crank pulley, this is where the engine gets its firing orders from

only half way there if you have a tbi check the crank sensor/ cam sensor that is the first line of business on that truck if the crankshaft sensor fails the truck stops dead when you wait a few minutes the sensor re energizes and the truck will work again for a bit antiknock can cause similer problems but not while the truck is running

SOURCE: Xterra 2005 died while driving. Restart and engine would diesel then die. Finally went from dieseling to regular idle. Intermittent problem. Ideas?

I had a 2002 nissan xterra in my garage with the same problem. they all have very common distributor issue on them. replace the distributor with new one
