Could be power fluctuations to the fuel gauge sending unit, a bad sending unit or a bad gauge. The sending unit would be the most likely cause.

SOURCE: temperature gauge is fluctuating while driving.

I'm thinking the coolnat level is low, and this might be caused by a bad head gasket - At least $800 to fix - sorry.

SOURCE: I HAVE A 1999 CARAVAN

Yes you are ru=ight about cold solder joints. as you might be handy working on cars youcan try to fix it yourself, But if your not handy with tools andintricate things you best leave this work to those that are. Remove the instrument cluster, leavingthe wiresconnected. turn the key on and push on the electrtrical connecteras you watch the gauges that are/nt working. If the serial bus weren't makig a connection then the check engine light would beon, or is it? Wigh the key off disconnect the electrical connector and the pins that plug in I scrach them by pulling lightly on the with treaded needle nosed pliers slipping off till they are all a little ruoghted up. Reconnect and try again. Sometimes afterhavingthe cluster disconnected ou may needto disconnect the battery sothe ECM will look for the cluster again. This is a common problem but ther's many varaitions of reconnecting including using a true scanner to cycle the gauges in an output test.

Need a new cluster. There may be a recall not sure but you can have cluster fixed by replaceing the step up motor in cluster.

Cadillac dash light flashing.

Under the carpet, near the gas pedal, there is a ground wire screwed in, and that connection is going to be corroded. Clean up the connection and be sure it is tight. I just went through this with my 97 Seville. Fixed every electrical problem I was having with lights flashing, gauges going crazy, etc...

Fuel guage fluctuates truck seems to lack fuel and sputters

you may have a bad fuel pump or a bad injection pump, here are picture of the two, as far as the gauge you may have a bad fuel sending unit, this is in the tank and work like a toilet float and sends a signal to the gauge, the injection pump and fuel pump are located on top of motor you would need to have the preasure checked on both before just replace them hope this is helpful.31a2121.jpg22edc2f.jpg

1999 buick when fuel gauge drops below 3/4 it is is not accurate

i dont know the specifics of a Regal, but usually, when a needle fluctuates too much, is because the float gauge in the gas tank is worn out, or its mount became loose. You cant see that effect on a full tank because the instrument needle and the float are pegged against the stop.

Where is the oil level sensor located? oil guage wiggles between 40 & 60 at idle and stays on 60 on the road.

That's not oil level you see on the gauge -- that is oil pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI). It is normal for the pressure to fluctuate when the engine RPM goes down. If it stays on 60 PSI on the road, you are very lucky -- that is excellent oil pressure!
