What are the spark wires location on the coil for 2006 3.5 Pontiac Montana
They are COIL PACKS... No Spark Plug Wires
1-2-3 back bank 4-5-6 front bank *Front of vehicle here*
The Cylinder Numbering is as Follows (1,2,3 are the Cyliners near the Passenger Compartment), #1 is the one closest to the Serpentine Belt. 4,5,and 6 are closer to the Radiator. On top of the Coil Pack is Numbers for the Order. Plug #1 into #1 Cylinder and so on...
Thanks for the info; the pic; of the Coil is identical to what,s on my Van ..But I,am getting mix info about the Firing order..I was Told that 1,3,5, ore the back & 1, 4, 6, are the front all going from Left to right.........
3.8L and 4.3 Liter Engines are as Follows... Standing in FRONT of the ENGINE ****Where the Auxiliaries are ****** On the LEFT as looking at it are 2,4,6 and on the RIGHT as looking are 1,3,5. On ALL OTHER GM V6 is as follows... (1,3,5 LEFT and 2,4,6 RIGHT). IT does not matter if you have a RWD or FRW, just stand in front of the AUXILLIARIES and look to the Left and Right....
Here is how I find #1 Cylinder to save you some Head Ache... Look and see what Cylinder is SLIGHTLY ahead of the other Side. You can look at the LEADING EDGE of the Valve Cover. The One who sticks Farthest FORWARD is #1
Thanks for the info; (back)1,3,5 & (front)2,4,6, worked for me..thnks again...here is another question that you maybe able to help me with...??? are there any issues
My message should have said...are there any issues by using a NGK plug in a 3.5 Lt chev engine ????
Autolite and AC Delco DOUBLE PLATINUM plugs work the best. You need to be aware that with certain ignition configurations that the need for a better plug is truly a necessity. With the Older Plugs, they were Copper and worked great. On Dodge, CHAMPION work wonders. I would NEVER put a Bosch Platinum in another car for the rest of my life due to the number of failures that I have seen with people doing it themselves and failing Emissions. When a Vehicle is Sparking on both the Compression and Power, they will wear out twice as fast. The Double Platinum will work great for you (LOOK FOR THE APP 606), The Iridum are OEM but I do not feel they are a Necessity or anywhere near worth the cost.

Im surprised that didn't fix it. On the Quad4 engine its usually a cracked coil housing.
Have you checked:
The crankshaft position system variation compensating values are stored in the PCM non-volatile memory after a learn procedure has been performed. If the actual crankshaft position system variation is not within the crankshaft position system variation compensating values stored in the PCM, DTC P0300 may set.

remove the ignition coil pack ( 2 10mm bolts on front of it and 2 13 mm nuts on the back side) u will need a long extension and deep socket for the back ones , and unplug all electrical connectors and remove it from the vehicle and you should be able to reach the back plugs without a problem.

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Montana - what is a misfire #5?
Without your actual trouble code, I am assuming that you are have a misfire on cylinder # 5. The computer cannot really tell what is causing the misfire only that cyl 5 is not putting out full power. If it misfires when cold then smooths out as it warms up, I would say it is probably an injector that is sticky, as it warms up it starts working properly.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion. I will have that checked out. I will also ask my mechanic what the actual trouble code says."
Inspection
Inspect for the correct routing of the spark plug wires. Improper routing may cause cross-firing. Inspect each wire for any signs of cranks or splits in the wire. Inspect each plug wire boot for tearing, piercing, arcing, carbon tracking or a corroded terminal.
If there is any corrosion, carbon tracking or arcing indicated on a plug wire boot or terminal, both the plug wire and component it was connected to should be replaced.
