Is there a fuse to the speedometer or anything else that would stop it from working

It is definitely the speed sensor assembly which hangs outside the transmission underneath the truck. Usually runs a little over $110

well a cable is any cheeper if it has one.
to find out. you need to find that fuse you mentioned.
if you have one replace it. it wont cost much.
if thats your fix then all is well.
you have no fuse it's a cable. and that need to be replaced. and it's a pain.
if it's not the fuse but a sensore the price sounds high but about right. (****you can always go to a junker for one****extra cheep) finding it is easy. it will be the on the trany close to the out put shafts. remove the old one with a socet and screw driver to pry it out and replace.

Her yo go and thanks for letting us know it was a DX model.

You may need another speedometer. The speed sensor sends a signal to both the speedo and the odometer. So if the sensor fails, both meters would stop working.
The speedo gets power from the same circuit as the warning lights.
