SOURCE: 2001 Jeep won't reverse

Depending upon what transmission you have, it could be a bad solenoid or control unit, bad reverse band or servo or a few other things. If you find no external problems, you will need a trans shop to examine it. If rpm drops when reverse is selected that means it's trying to go but has an internal problem.

SOURCE: No brake lights on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

If the bulbs are ok, then

  • There could be poor connetion in the bulb holder or,
  • There might be some disconnection on the joints leading to the rear or,
  • The brake light switch might be stack off.

SOURCE: shifting lever doesnt lock

Likely the shift detent mechanism is broken. It's inside the unit and can be reached by removing the trans pan. It should be just inside where the shift lever goes through the case.

Both front brakes getting hot and starting to bind on in turn makes the engine heat up help 2001 grand cherokee Jeep

The caliper assemblies mey be sticking when you apply the brakes. This condition can be cuased by overheated brake fluid. I would have a brake and alignment shop check out the front brakes.

The brakes on my 2001 Cherokee experience oscillation when applied, but they otherwise work. Any ideas?

The brake rotors are warped. Brake rotors are the piece of metal that the brake pads press up against to stop the car. Sometimes these warp from heat.

No brake lights on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

First thing to do is chk. the fuse for break lights, if thats ok, than i would say its the break light switch. As far as the right taillight, that could be as simple as a bad bulb.

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee will suddenly not go into reverse. It sounds like the gear switches but now it won't move when the gas is applied.

IF IT GOES FOWARD JUST FINE AND YOU HAVE LOW GEAR IN FOWARD CHECK TOO SEE IF YOUR EMERAGNCY BREAK IS PARTLY ON OR EVEN IF YOUR RAER BRAKES ARE BAD
