I want to check the fuse at the back of the PCM on my 2004 Porsche 996, how ever I cannot remove this unit - can anyone help?

The PCM is housed in the dash & covered by a horse shaped surround which just clips into the dash & hold numerous buttons. Then the PCM is secured by 4 small Torx screws, but when I remove these the unit will still not slide out from the dash - is their anything else holding it in place??? Thanks for any help given HH

Unfortunately the fastening of the PCM is different on 2004 996 compared to a 997, any other ideas? Thanks HH

once you have the trim and screws removed are there any thin slots in either corner which look like they need radio "keys" inserting if you contact a local vehicle audio shop they may be able to say if this is a method used on your vehicle model,i'll keep looking , let me know how you get on

SOURCE: Similar problem with right hand side

the bracket that mounts the headlight and holds it in place is a common fault with cayennes, if you can live with popping the lamp back when it moves out, remove the inner wheel arch cover to access the wiring loom and connectors for the headlamp, then secure the connector to the lamp either by cable tie or something similar, then if the lamp moves at least it wont disconnect

SOURCE: Where can i find a manual for the PCM Sat Nav on a Porsche (996)

If you don't have a Porsche dealer near you, check eBay for a Nav manual. Your car should have come with one though. Good luck!

Well, you can sometime catch the code again. Pt the key in the ignition and turn till the dash light come on (dont Start) then press and the Lock button while keeping the Lock button Pressed and turn the dash light off and put the key with the lock button Press for 10 second afterwards. If not successful first time try again. This should do it.

SOURCE: I have 1999 Porsche 996 3.4l engine. Can you mix coolant

Hi! Yes you can mix them up... they are both coolant anyways. But the best thing to do is flush the fluid till its clear then put in the new coolant. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Where's the fuse box located for a 2001 Porsche boxster rear right lights

Exactly which 'light' is the problem? Tail lights, brake lights and reverse lights all normally run on separate fuses.
The fuse panel is in the foot well inside the car. It is behind a trim cover on the door side of the foot well, It's the left hand seat of the vehicle at about ankle height, roughly the same area as the bottom hinge on the door.
Try this website for a list of which fuses you need to look for.

I have Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4 2001 And no simcard is working?

If no sim card is working in the audio unit it is more than likely an audio unit fault but to be 100% sure it needs to go on a Porsche diagnostic machine and read out faults. This is because the audio unit is a module called PCM which controls all the entertainment systems on that vehicle. Also the aerial need to be check but can also be done at the same time

Hi there
I had this problem with my 2004 turbo, I took it to my dealers and they said they it would need a whole new PCM unit as the disk drive was also faulty, happily they replaced it under warranty and didnt charge me a thing.
