Could be the controller or a faulty blend door. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator along with the vents. The controller uses electric motors to change the direction of air flow.
see if theres power to the rear blower motor go under the rear and see if the one pipe is cold and the other is hot or at least warm if there the same then the rear system is plugged
There is a blower motor control processor for the back blower - it takes input from the front control and the rear control and decides the fan speed. That processor could be faulty, or the blower motor, or a 30amp fuse in the engine compartment. In the front system you have a controller and blend doors that direct air thru the heater core and evaporator. You would need to check the operation of those blend doors.
Could be a blockage in the lines to the rear unit. Might be low on freon too. Or a blend door problem. Can you check under the floor and see if one of the lines is cold ?
The car uses the same freon in the front as it does in the rear. If the rear a/c is working, you either have a plugged evaporator in the front unit, or perhaps a bad heater switch. Try switching the heater to hot and see if it blows even warmer air from the front vents. If so, the heater switch is working and then it sounds like a plugged evaporator or maybe a plugged orifice tube. That is a good place to start looking. Hope this helps.
I'm mainly a chrysler expert but did alot of gm & ac certified. I'd check the motor for that selection, not sure where it's located, but it's on the heater/ac box. You can check it for power but it's probably shot to be honest. They burn out alot in all cars. If that's not it, let me know & I'll go from there.
This problem is caused by what is called the air temp control blend door, either the door is sticking in the duct or the electric actuator that moves it is defective, the actuator is the common part that fails, the bad news is the dash assembly must be removed to replace the parts.
