You have 2 zone temperature control control. The heater control valve has
failed and is open allowing the passenger side heater core to stay hot.
It
is a very common problem and expensive to repair. It tends to be an intermittent
problem and sometimes will work properly.
SOURCE: Rear window on driver's side slides down
I've had this problem and I believe its a common problem with S types. There is a white plastic slider that wraps around a metal strut and moves up and down as the window opens and closes. The problem is that the plastic slider breaks if the car door is slammed when the window is half way down, When this occurs the slider breaks free and the wire that pulls it up and down wraps itself around the motor and jamms everything up. The fix is to replace the window regulator as a complete unit. This fairly straight forward and worth the effort as you most likely will be replacing the other regulators if you keep the car for a while. Buy the regulator either from Jag dealer or OEM part which is approx 1/2 the cost (I found mine on ebay!). Make sure your get the correct unit, left, right, front and rear are different. Take off the door panel, its all clips except you need to unscrew the two scews under the rubber insert in the door pocket first. After you have removed the panel remove the black plastic cover as well. You need to detach the glass window from the regulator, This is done by punching out the brass insert in the middle of the plastic plug that is pushed through a hole in the glass. Be careful, if you hit it too hard you can break the glass, I ended up drilling it out as this was easier. Once you have the plastic plug out the glass is detached and you can remove the regulator. This is just a few screws, the only tricky part is to get the angle right to pull it out the door frame. Installation of the regulator is just the reverse. Good luck.
SOURCE: how do i reset my one touch window button on my 03
Hi,
It sounds like you have disconnected the battery at some point. That would require you to reset the windows. Simply you need to lower the window, then raise the window all the way up. Keep your finger on the window switch for a few more seconds. You should here a faint click from the door glass regulator. This is the indication that you have successfully reset the one touch operation. Repeat the process for all the other windows.
SOURCE: excessive wear on 1997 s type jags rear brakes
The electronic parking brake on s type is prone to sticking and also needs to be calibrated correctly after pad changes. First check that the brake calipers are not jammed and the pads are fitted correctly and all parts are free to move. Then try a recalibration of the park brake. to do this - disconnect battery for 10 mins MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RADIO CODE as this will need to be entered when you reconnect battery.
Connect battery, put you foot on the brake pedal (not too hard) and then apply park brake switch. your message centre indication should go out.
If you have unexpected message ie. parkbrake fault - use this method to rectify it, as a low battery voltage often causes a parkbrake fault message to appear.
Hope this helps good luck
SOURCE: brake caliper won't collapse on
I do not know for sure but I am guessing that they are made the the VW and Audi. If it is the caliper is not smoothed and looks like it has a valley(ridge) in it, if this is true then they screw in not push. The local Auto Parts Store sells a tool for this, it is a boxed tipped looking tool, you use a ratchet with it, you may or may not need to grind a tip or two off. Hope this helps Tim
Testimonial: "Thanks for the tip. I can see now I need the tool but it still won't collapse."
