Ford escort Zx2 Trunk Light won't shut off

I've slammed the lid, tried everything I possibly can, It's completely closed and tight, but the light still will not shut off and it's killing my battery. How do I shut it off without removing it?

No I have done plenty of these there is no sensor just that block it is safe to connect all together and do away with the block.

Check to make sure that there's power from the alternator to the battery on the charge-back wire. If nothing's there, then your alternator is junk and you'll have to replace it again.

Yes, All the years of the ZX2 utilize the same engine. 1998-2003 are all the same except for ECU programing and the MAF wiring. You should not have a problem.

Trunk lights usually turn off through the latch which is located in the trunk lid. It would be located to the inside of the trunk under the license plate. There should be some wires going to the mechanism. You can open the trunk and use a screwdriver to activate the latch and simulate what happens when the trunk is shut. Move the latch back and forth a little and see what happens. There may be a bad connection or faulty latch mechanism.

Where is the trunk light in a 2003 ford escort zx2

The courtesy lamp for opening the trunk in a ZX2 is located in the very middle of the top of the trunk. It is about the size of a pinkie finger from the tip ti the first knuckle (rather small). If you need a replacement, search for the size "T10" I believe.

Remove the bulb if you think it runs the battery down. the switch is part of the latch assembly of the trunk.

Dash light looks like a car with trunk open is lit up. All doors and trunk are secure. What is the cause?

The trunk lid is not closed tightly enough....or the trunk lid switch is not properly adjusted.
Try closing the trunk lid a little harder once to see if it works,,,or have someone push down hard there while you watch the panel light.

You need to try and get a code off of your computer for the check engine light. Check and make sure your gas cap lid is on.

The trunk of my car doesn,t shut properly...you have to slam it really hard for it to close properly. I,ve tried W-D40 but that only helped a little. Any sugestions, 98 hona accord

Two possibilities:1) The latch part (the one installed in the chassis, not on the lid) has adjusting screws, these might have become loose, pushed down, and the lid part cant reach it when you close it. 2) The remote cable lid opener might be stuck on the open position, not allowing the lid to lock. Check the remote tab by the driver´s side for freedom of movement, and proper return to rest position.

Had the same problem on 09 Merc Mariner. Bad electrical connector on MAP. New connector fixed problem.

1998 escort zx2 dome light stays on when switch is set for door; all other indicators, chime for key in ignition etc seem OK. Light works normally in switch on and off positions.

It should stay on for about 30 seconds and go off. Otherwise, the car is 11 years old, so find a switch position which does not drain the battery.

2001 Buick Century. door/truck light replacement

My Buick does the same thing if a door or thr trunk lid are not completely closed. They look like they are but upon opening them and slamming them shut the problem stops. Possibly there is some play in one of them. I would say try to see if there is any play in the doors. I would get in and close the doors then try to push on them and see if one if them moves. if it does that is probably the culprit. It may need to be adjusted to close tightly.

The door ajar/courtesy light switch that is mounted to the door latch inside the door is sticking, this is a very common issue with all late model Fords from 90's up.
