The blower fan wont shut off

We have power issues to the blower motor on our buick, after a faint smell of wiring melting, the fan will not shut off. put in a new fan, still does it. disconected wiring from dash automatic control module, but the fan still runs. there is power going to the fan from somewhere, that we can't find.

SOURCE: 1996 buick riviera blower motor will not shut off

The blower motor control module needs to be replaced, that will solve the problem. The module is underneath the hood on the firewall in the back. It has 2- 6mm screws. Unplug it, pull it out, put the other one back in. Plug it in. This is common for this model buick.

SOURCE: Blower motor resistor

I believe it's behind the glove box. Once you remove the glove box it's easy to get to. Hope this helps.

Its just above the blower motor on passenger side on housing. Goes in from the top side hidden, by cover on firewall.

SOURCE: Blower motor runs somethimes

Could be a faulty switch, or wire connector problem, and not necessarily the blower motor. You could save yourself $600 by doing a little troubleshooting to find the problem.

Try wiggling the wire connector at the blower and the switch. If it is the blower motor, spend a few dollars for a chilton's manual or haynes, and do it yourself.

Blower fan motor not working

Common general motors failure would be the blower fan motor resistor. Usually located on passenger side underneath dash. A lot of the time the part itself will come with a pigtail for the wiring harness because it also will melt. If you search blower fan motor resistor for that year of car and make on Google you should be able to find something good luck .

My 2016 Yukon climate control shut off on a 6 hour trip yesterday and wont come back on when you press the button.

Hi. Does your control panel look like this? Did the entire unit shut off (no lights on LCD screen)? If it is still receiving power please check the fuse for the blower motor. GM has issues with the blower motor and speed resister, when they get old. They are known to over heat. Diagnostics is needed. I would first inspect the plug to the blower motor and the plug to the speed resister. Check for signs of over heating (Melted plastic plug, hard, melted or discolored wiring). Note: A test light is very handy to have. I hope this help get you started. Please write back if you have more questions. Good Luck.

Dodge caravan air conditioning fan not blowing

I would turn the fan on with the van off and listen to see if just the blower is working at all or a slower speed. . If you have a volt meter you could make sure it was getting power by unplugging the wire to it and testing there.. If you have power then the blower motor is the problem . If it was a resister it would not work at all normally. or it would work on one speed but not another speed in most cases.. I would think by the age of it more likely a bad blower fan motor .the part is about 73 dollars to replace complete with fan and the resisters are 15-20 at your local auto parts store .
This could also be a wire harness issue with the resister plug which supplies the power to the blower . it very common that the wires got hot and melted from old age or from a blower that was old and drawing too much power .The resister and harness or located under the hood on the firewall of the passenger side of the van .Yes there is a fuse for the blower fan under the dash .If it has blown it could be the blower drawing too much power.or other issues .
Yes we sure do feel the heat here in Florida .

Burnt wiring smell when blower switch is turned on in my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. Don't know if this could be the resistor or the motor? Any suggestiions?

Would check the plugs on the blower motor and blower motor resistor to see if they are melted. The blower motor may be an issue.

Heater not working

The problem is probably the blower motor resistor. I'm not sure where yours is located exactly. They can be on the firewall under the hood or some are near the blower motor under the dash.
