Hi my 2009 Jeep Compass won't start I bought a new battery new battery cables, new starter and still won't start. But if I use a jumper box that plugs into my house outlet and put it on engine start it starts, but as soon as I turn it off it will not start? Anyone have any suggestions?
Go to www.reliable-store.com they have got books on every vehicle and also how to service/repair it,
service/repair/owner's/maintenance manual with
parts info, fuse box, gear box, PCV, torque specs, coiling, wiring diagrams, electrical diagrams, fuse diagrams, error codes, etc everything
Worth it

I also have a 98 Jeep Cherokee with the same problem. I know I probably need to replace the starter eventually but as of now I turn it to accessory only, pop it in neutral, then start it and it works every time when it wouldn't even try to turn over with it in park. Don't know why it works, but it does. Give it a try.

Gap is the same as original ones...should be on an under-hood sticker...Likely 35.
SOURCE: My car wouldn't start today
Your onboard security system probably has the fuel system disabled. This is common when the battery gets disconnected. The imobilizer unit will sometimes set a code if the battery gets disconnected then hooked back up. clearing the fault codes will usually get the engine to start again.
SOURCE: Battery tests at 12 volts but won't start but starts with jumper cables to other car
Check the voltage when cranking the engine, if it drops below 10 or 11 volts the battery probably needs replacing. Also check the voltage when it is running, it should be 14 volts or more. If it is not then the alternator is not charging.
Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.
