When the key is turned the instrument cluster lights up and gauges come on. You can hear the electric fuel pump cycle on-off, but that's it. Starter doesn't make a noise at all. Battery is under 3 years old and seems fine. Not sure what direction to start looking? Computer module, neutral safety switch, starter, ignition switch.

have same problem, ratan9 solution is pretty junk and I dont know why waste time posting it. After talking to local shop, to "test" the neutral safety switch, try to start in neutral, try to move shifter "farther" into park and turn key, listen to any clicks possible. If moving to neutral starts it you've got a bad switch. All the searching i've done it's either the safety switch, the ignition switch or a short in the harness somewhere

i can fix this problem for youmine does the same thing take your left hand and turn the key to start with the right hand ,with the car in park do not pust the park button in and just pull the stick back as far as it will go toward reverse if that doesnt work just push it forward and back till it starts

Did you got the ignition switch checked. If ignition switch itself is getting short, then it will not let the car to start. Also get the voltage at starter relay checked. If the starter relay is short, then it will not let the car to start.-------------
Test the voltage at starter. If there is proper voltage to starter this will confirm, whether the relay is issue or not.-----------
To
test the starter try this procedure.
--------- Measure the voltage at the starter solenoid. Place the
red probe on the positive battery terminal on the starter solenoid and place
the negative probe on chassis ground. Have someone turn the key switch to
"START" while you measure the voltage. The voltage should be
approximately 12.6 volts. If the voltage is correct, there is a problem with
the starter. Remove the negative battery post and check the connections on the
starter. But if voltage is very low and less that 12 volts, this
indicates its faulty solenoid. If you follow the wire from starter solenoid, it
will reach the starter relay. That starter relay is a 12 volt part.If there is
no voltage to starter or solenoid then its faulty starter relay.----------
The ignition switch is also a 12 volt part.Check the voltage at ignition switch wiring harness, there should be 12 volt.If not the switch is the issue.-------Also try wiggling the key in ignition key lock cylinder , many a times the lock cylinder gets shorted or out of line or bit loose internally.--------- Getting this possibilities checked will point towards the faulty component causing the problem.-------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Sounds like a bad starter, why did you replace the crank position sensor? If the engine will not turn over at all and it sparks with trying to jump the solenoid with a screw driver it seem as though the starter is bad. First you solve the solenoid problem when you jumped the solenoid with a screw driver sending fire to the starter. Check the cable connections to the starter if they are good replace the starter this should fix your problem.
