'Transmission Fluid Hot' warning light

My Traction Control warning light and my Transmission Fluid Hot warning light came on.My fluid levels are fine and my car is not running hot. I recently installed a new air filter. Could the new air filter not allow enough air intake to cool the transmission fluid?

Stop using it & have the transmission temp issue
checked out

Ever change the trans fluid since it was new?

Doing it now won't help if debris froze up a valve
or temp switch in the valve body or the valve body
is worn or that model has issues that need to be updated

The valves wear into the valve body then they don't allow the fluid to go to the cooler & the trans overheats & the switch brings on your over temp light You may have little or no cooler flow so STOP using it

SOURCE: Transmission Traction "Off" light stays lit with Traction button

The traction control system is controlled through the Anti-lock brake system. The way it works is if one of your wheels starts spinning the ABS applys the brake to that wheel to transfer power to the oppsite wheel that is getting traction. If your ABS is bad then your Traction control won't work. To check it I would find a parking lot on a wet day. In an open space mash in the gas. if you hear the ABS system kick in and you don't squall the tires then your good. My guess is you won't. What I would be worried about is will my ABS work. When checking the traction control is a good time to check the ABS. Acclerate to around 15 mph, then mash the brake as your live depended on it. If you hear a motor run and feel a vibration or grind in the brake peddal, then it works.

Try unplugging the electrical connection on the transmission to lock it in 3rd. It might get you moving. Although the transmission is going to need rebuilt or replaced.

Going up a hill, traction and break lights comes on (service traction-break fluid) message on my screen, got to top of hill and slowed down, lights came off. 2008 pontiac g6

Make sure your brake fluid is at the correct level. Any issue with the brake system will cause the traction system to not work as traction control works by modulating the brake on the wheel (s) that are slipping. If fluid level is fine then the sensor for the fluid level may be bad.

2011 Landrover freelander 2 . 26k miles. Out of warranty. Warning message "traction reduced transmission problem" appearing on display, also terrain control won't wok. The car drives fine however

Possibly a faulty sensor, check fluid level. Auto part stores can run a diagnostic with their scan tool for free. High mileage can also produce a number of possibilities.

Transmission fluid warning light on. what do I do while driving?

I suggest that you STOP at the NEAREST service station and at least check the fluid level with the engine still hot and idling in park on a flat, level surface. Top off the fluid as needed with a type designed for YOUR transmission.

If level is OK, break out the owner's manual to determine if the warning light is simply a notification that you have hit the next "service interval" (based on miles, etc.) and is only a reminder or if it is telling you that something is wrong.

HOT TRANSMISSION LIGHT FLASHING

When this warning light flashes it means the fluid (ATF) temperature of the transmission have reached a level that is detrimental to the operation of the transmission and damage will occur if the cause is not corrected. The causes can be overloading (towing) the vehicle, severe operational circumstances such as high air temps. Other common causes are excessive slippage of the transmission due to worn clutch packs or a defective torque converter. Also the TFT (trans fluid temperature sensor) can malfunction and send a false signal to transmission control module (TCM) and set the warning light. I would not ignore this warning, have it checked by a transmission shop or the dealer.

Traction control light on ,brake light on ,abs light on

If the brake light is on, check the fluid level immediately and add fluid if necessary.
After that, have the car's OBD-II computer scanned with a 'Brake Scan' tool for OBD-II. This will help to narrow down which wheel speed sensor is giving you trouble. It might be a broken wire, or a bad wheel speed sensor.

The wheel speed sensor sends information to the ABS side and the Traction Control side of the computer module for ABS and Traction Control.

The car will revert to standard braking and regular non braking transmission power distribution to the drive wheels when the ABS and Traction Control lights are both on.

Good luck on this repair.

When i start my 2008 endeavour, the brake light wont go off. Then when i start to drive, the traction icon comes on. Any solutions?

There are a few items to check.
1) Brake fluid level
2) Brake pads
3) Wheel sensors and wiring (these send data to ABS and traction control)

If all the braking system seems to be fine then I would guess a wheel sensor is faulty which would make the warning lights come on.

Transmission cooler light comes on periodically. When car is allowed to sit for a few minutes light goes out and shifts normal

See 3rd dot point. It sounds like transmission fluid is getting hot and triggering the warning light. Check fluid level. Check trans cooler and cooler lines to be sure trans fluid is flowing through cooler to transmission. Transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor
The TFT sensor is located on the internal wiring harness to the solenoid valves in the fluid pan.
It is a resistor and measures the transmission fluid temperature.
The transmission fluid temperature is used by the PCM for the following functions:
  • Applying the torque converter clutch is not permitted until the transmission fluid reaches a certain temperature,
  • engagement of 4th gear is prevented in extreme sub-zero temperatures until the normal operating temperature is reached,
  • if the transmission fluid temperature is excessive, a pre-set fixed shift curve is selected and the torque converter lock-up clutch is closed in "2", "3" and "4"; of the transmission warning indicator is activated. No substitute signal is available for the TFT sensor.

Mini cooper Warning lights for abs, low tire, traction comes on

Ok, check the brake fluid level for a start. This could mean a few things. Your brake pads might be worn down, which would bring a yellow warning light on(triangle), at the same time with the pads being low it will have displaced the fluid, making the level low, this would be a red light on. Now because of this the body control module has detected these faults, will have turned the abs off, hence the abs light.
If brake fluid is low, this could confirm my theory.
If its low, top up with dot 5 brake fluid and take to garage to have new pads fitted.
