Engine does also come on and say something about coolant, not sure if that would be related at all.
The coolant light is a bad thing. You need to check the coolant to see if it is low. That would cause the light to come on. IF it is low you could over heat the engine and that would cause a major problem.
Before you start tearing into it is your check engine light on at all?
Its on as soon as i turn the car on, it been doing its stutter things long the service light started coming on.
Well do me a favor this will narrow it down for me so you can get a solution faster go get that checked at any autozone, oreilly auto parts etc just tell them you have a check engine light on and have them pull the codes and post the codes in here. They do it for free.
The coolant light doesnt come on anymore at all. I just drove to TX and back this weekend ( 1300mile round trip ) and it didnt come on once. Some days the engine doesnt shutter at all when i stop and go to drive again and some days it does it. Now at one point during the trip it stuttered/stalled ( thats the best way i can explain it) its an automtic, anyways, and it actually died. i put it in park, turned the key, started it right back up and it was fine again..

Probably something shorting out. This is something that probably isn't going to be easy to figure out. You need someone that can diagnose it in person

Your problem is most likey your intake gasket.They have a problems on the SOHC engines where the intake gasket shifts & starts leaking vacuum at the #1 intake runner causing a missfire on Cylinder #1.While the engine is Idling buy some throttle plate cleaner & spray throttle cleaner down at the #1 Intake runner where the intake meets the head.If engine stalls or runs rougher that's your problem.I have replaced dozens of those gaskets for tha reason!! They have a beter design gasket through saturn parts.It has a coating on it to prevent reoccurance.Also you should check you Coolant Temp Sensor,if it's ceramic it's most likely bad.Replacement is brass from saturn.Good Luck

I would take it in and have them do a diagnostic on it, sounds like the cam shaft sensor to me.

I had a problem with starts on my 98 sc2, did it twice only, but it would start up, shake a bit then shut down like it wasn't getting fuel, or a wrong mixture. Replaced the coolant temperature sensor and starts / idles like new now... goodluck

Engine light is on as soon as I turn on the car. Says service car, coolant. I dont think thats what making my car stutter when i stop and go to accelerate again. It did this before the service light came on.
If you have a leak in a head gasket or you have a cracked head, that could cause the symptoms you are talking about and it will destroy the catalytic converter.
My 03 Saturn is doing the exact same thing where it will stall at almost every red light or stop I make. Furthermore my coolant "dings" at me but my gage stays normal when driving and when I took it in to get checked the mechanic says its okay. I just had a diagnostic check done and the mechanic said nothing came up as a problem that could explain the stalling...and it is happening ALL the time now!
