The car is a 2004 Sebring Sedan. The car doesn't have alarm, only center lock. The centerlock works great, both inside LOCK buttons work. When closing the drivers door from outside with the key, that closes all doors just fine. Only problem is that when opening the drivers door with the key from outside, that doesn't automatically open the front passangers door. Any ideeas? Thanks !

I have a e60 525i that I just brought and it has the same problem, the owners manual suggests driving with the key in the ignition for a long time as the batteries are rechargable and may have gone flat, i have tried this and it doesnt seem to work
i also read something about getting water in the aerial about the rear window and that wrecks the receiever. My car isn;t under warranty so not looking forwarding to taking it to bmw

Shopping list: Spray can of "White Lithium grease" and a spray can of WD-40 or similar penetrating lubricant, and spray the door latch assy, inside out, with WD-40 first. Even if you have to put window down & aim spray nozzle from top at area of latch, and soak it. Stick the nozzle inside the key slot also, and give it a few squirts. After you let it sit for a minute or 2 start working the lock on door, lock ,unlock, lock, unlock, until you feel it getting easier, now do same with key, until it starts to loosen up. Once you get it working freely, give it a few minutes, and do same with "white lithium grease". That will hopefully protect it from seizing (rusting) up again. Every once in a while when you think of it, give latch another shot of lithium grease. I usually try to do mine before & after winter, or whenever I start to feel it getting a little stiff again. Worst thing is the glass you have to clean if you aim spray too much toward glass, but small price to pay for not having to pull door panel off. If your door panel is easy to get off to allow for better access to back of latch assy, that would definately be better, but that's up to you & your experience with tools. Then you can be sure you got all the related linkages lubed where they need to be.

Mine did this. I went around to each door and sprayed a liberal amount of WD-40 in the latch, then open and closed each door about five times. It hasn't done it since. I think the switch inside was not moving freely.

will your passenger door open with the key and is it just one side that your windows are not working or both. if its just one side it might be your regulator motor in the door thats not working if its both it might be your central locking pump usually in the boot. however if both of them are working fine it could be that your key needs reprogrammed however i think the 1st 2 are more likely to be the problem.
