what do you mean reset, if the air bag light is on, there will be a fault code set to address the problem. Have a technician check and make necessary repair.
The airbag module is a serious safety device and should not be tampered with. The entire air bag system ie module , air bags, seat belt tensioners etc are treated as one unit and there fore not a serviceable item or part replacement there of. The module should be located in the bowels of the dashboard (yellow wiring ) and mounter to the bulkhead. Do NOT tamper or adjust any componants.Good luck
no it wont. in order for the air bag light to go off you must get a VW air bag resetter. they sell for about 45 bucks. it will reset the light and crash data. since your airbag light is on the airbags are locked up. once reset they will work again. anymore questions give me an email... Usualy there is a key hole located near where the passenger air bag off light is. All you do is find the key hole, insert your ignition key and turn to reactivate the air bag. If this doesn't help, i would make a quick phone call to your nearest toyota dealership, and ask for service.
Good luck!
Disconnect the battery - you have to pull the airbag off. There are a couple of screws on the opposite side of the steering wheel center section (likely they're a T30 torx bit like my 99 A4). Undo them (they are probably captive screws that won't come out, but they'll loosen and allow the airbag to come off). Once the airbag is free, you have to unplug it - the yellow connector is the bag connector. Buy a ground strap from an electronics store and use it though - messing with airbags can be very dangerous and if you don't ground yourself to the car's frame, electrical discharge from your body could blow the bag. If you're at all hesitant about this, don't mess with it - paying a pro is much better than hurting yourself.
Once the bag is off, there's a center bolt you have to remove. First, mark it with a marker, and be sure you mark the wheel as well, so you can reinstall the wheel straight. Once you do that, remove the center bolt (again, on my Audi, it was a T55 torx - your VW is likely the same). Remove that, and the wheel should slide right off.
