98 xj8 rattle from rear near side???

I have a 1998 xj8 that has just started to make a tinny rattling noise from what it sounds like the rear near side (uk)
it does not appear to be the exhaust or any loose tin wear....would a bush sound so tinny if so does anyone know where to start..i belive it had new shocks fitted about a year ago and it also looks like it has had new pads at the same time...any further suggestions would be great cheers

It could be the springs on the handbrake shoes. Jaguar sell a rubber sleve to fit over the spring to stop just this noise!!

Or try lying down with hand on the lower shock absorber bush and get some one to bounce the back of the car. you may feel the free play. this is a common problum D

sounds like you have something loose first track were the noise is coming from and inspect the area for loose componets if it is coming from your motor then you might need a mechanic to check it out could be something loose in there

Check the heat shield to the exhaust manifolds, good chance that the bolts on them have rusted off or is loose causing the Heat Shields to rattle making the tinny rattle noise. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know if that's making the noise, and if not we can look at other things.

Noise under hood like rattling sound

Try checking the heat shields on the exhaust pipe up front under the car. Alot of times they will loosen up, and begin to rattle. You can ither remove them, or try to clamp them.

timing chain tensioners are commen on the 1zzfe. the tensioner is about $50 and the labour another .5 hours.
