Immobiliser ?????? so i have been told

Hi i have a Hyundai Accent 3dr 2002 model. My car has just stopped running it wont start it turns over but wont start i have had a mechanic look at it and he says its the immobiliser but i have recentley been informed by another mechanic that this certain model dont have an immobiliser the only thing that i can see that would be the immobiliser is the clutch needs to be in to start the car and that still works fine. Can someone please help me as i need my car. Kyles

hi from uk re your reg of car does have immob it is the chip in the ign key i had this model prior to my getz however does engine spin over quickly ? pull off a plug lead and check if spark is reaching plugs ?by holding lead to earth will hear clicking ? also checkthe fuel pump is actuating when ign is turned on ? if not check pump fuse in box ? as you do not mention milage ? assume is high ? the cambelt is supposed to be renewed 60000 mls or 5yrs ? but if this has failed/snapped the engine will spin over faster than usual as if no compression ? ie crank turns but not camshaft another problem could be the crank sensoror wires may be corroded ? if you could give any more info/symptoms it would help to offer possible checks you can diy ?

If, when you switch the ignition on, you get a dash light on, the symbol is a car with a key overlaid, you have somehow activated the immobilser You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this may reset the immobiliser, If this does not work you will have to contact a Hyundai dealer to get the immobiliser unlock code.

Have you recently taken a sharp curve? Some cars I have seen with this problem come equipped with a safety shut-off switch to ensure the engine stops if the car rolls over or takes a sudden jolt. If this is the case, it usually is located in the trunk. Hope this helps.

My car wont start lost my key so got an ignition barrel and key out of a different car wat do i need to do? plz if anyone can help plz

Your car is probably fitted with an immobiliser , you need to have the original key in the car when you start it or replace the immobiliser module and key with a programmed chip to match that immobiliser , otherwise go to the dealer with VIN number and they will replace the key (not cheap usually) the trick is the immobiliser chip in the key must match the one in the car , it's a security feature .

Vehicle will not start

Put a fuel pressure guage on the test port on fuel rail. With fuel injected engines if pressure is too high or low car wont start.
Cycle key off to run (not start) you should hear the pump run a few seconds and stop.
