Trans problem wont shift

If you put in 6 quarts of trans fluid the trans and tourque converter must have been bone dry.
By the way trans temp and engine are usually the same or close.
The heat is from friction, the friction is from the clutches slipping.
You need a new trans,

Could be a long list of things.
Its too late for a filter change. Doing that now would probably make matters worse.
The trans uses electric solenoids and a pump to apply pressure to the clutches. So either could be faulty given the age and mileage.
I'm not sure if the shifting problem is connected to the shift indicator lights problem.
You may need to take it to a trans shop to find out for sure. And they will not want to touch it with that many miles on it.
A regular mechanic might be able to do a pressure test on it to at least find out if it is the pump or not.

if the shifter wont move with brake pedal pushed ck , shift interlock,brake pedal switch,and key interlock. if the shifter moves and trans does nothing ck cable underhood at trans for operation if working yes you have trans problem . ck fluid to see level or if burnt fluid will smell real bad if low trans wont work right.and a trans can fail with out setting any engine or trans codes.so ck engine light wont come on. there is some times a release by the shifter a small cover you pull off and stick a key or small screw driver in slot and shifter will move.

Trans needs a new drum lubricator and is acsesable without removing
the trans.

Possibly a shift control module. Your year vehicle may not have an accessible Powertrain Control Module. Might be an "upshift valve" that has either failed or gotten stuck. Might want to take it to a good trans shop.

I would check the fluid level because low fluid can cause this problem. If the fluid is full, when was the last time the ATF was changed? If the fluid has not been changed regularly then you may have some sludge or particles fouling a valve in your valve body.

first check drive axels , since you replaced front springs on struts i assume. it is possible that one of the axels popped out. next if thats ok check fluid level in trans with eng OFF should show over full make a srcribe mark on the stick. then START the eng it should go down to full or just below depends if trans is full or a little low . if level does not drop approx.1/2 in or so then have a transmission shop check for bad splines in torque convertor, that is a comon problem in that car, year and milage do not play a roll a large roll in parts failure in trans any more. not like it use-to.
