Hi. I'm sure something is shorted. Check for voltage drop. Go to Fluke.com. Their info explain everything how to check for voltage drop and other types of diagnostics
reset the stereo by pulling the fuse it sounds like it just needs reset sounds like also check the wiring on back of stereo make sure no wires came unpluged loose theres 2 power wires red and yellow 8 speaker wires 1 ground wires black
May be the unit has packed up,it happens from time to time, check at the back that it is plugged in sounds silly but it happens, has a wire been disturbed
95% of the time when multiple things like that happen it can be linked back to a blown fuse. Thats where i would start first because with bare wires touching or grounded out it is a good chance it blew a fuse.
1800 BUCKS?!?!?!? Sounds like the dealer is trying to rip you off. Aint no way a replacement head unit should cost that much money. Best bet is too ask around and get prices for replacement head units or head to a car audio shop (a good one, not one of those "here today gone tommorrow" type places) and buy one. A good head unit should run you between 200-400 depending on the cash your willing to lay out for it. As far as the CD goes, chalk it up as a loss and buy a new one.
More info needed. Is it just a radio, a radio with a tape player/CD? What year is the truck? Is it the original radio? Most original radios have the amplifier built into the radio.
