My wife has a 2003 Saab 9.3 Turbo. When you brake there is an intermittent rubbing sound as if it is happening on every revolution. Brakes and rotors have been checked on three occassions by Saab certified mechanics. Bushings were replaced once as well. What else could it be except an old car?
CHECK BALLBEARINGS ON ALL WHEELS BUSHINGS CHECK BULTS THAT HOLDS CALIPERS TOGHTHER STRIP BULTS.
The brake pads may be worn or more likely the brake discs are warped.
If it only happens when the brakes are applied it has to be the pads or rotors , the pads have a wear indicator on them that rubs on the rotor when the pads require replacement, have your mechanic pull the pads and do a visual inspection.

Have you put the correct caliper on each side?
Are bleed screws facing upward?
If so you will probably need to have brakes pressure bled to push through air in ABS system.

The rotor is not bolted on , the lugnuts from the wheel / tire holds the rotor in place. Once the caliper is removed , you will need to free the rotor from the wheel bearing/hub assembly . A large hammer will be required if rusted to the hub, then you may need to back off the e-brake shoes through the slot in the back of the backing plate, you must use a brake spoon and a pick to back off the adjuster to allow the rotor/drum to clear the ebrake shoes. please rate my answer, this helps me out , Thankyou have a great weekend.
