1986 Chev Z24 no start after lengthy storage

Have a 1986 chev Z24 which has been parked for 4 years...No start....charged up battery, new plugs, new fuel filter, 5 gallons hi octane fuel.....cranks like crazy with no fire...any ideas?

Engine is 2.8 liter multi port fuel injected engine with 57,000 miles

When I parked it last it ran perfectly with ethanol mixed gas. Last update was new dist cap, new ignition wires and mass air flow sensor and had tune up before parking it...Had not been running since fall of 2004.....could problem be plugged fuel line? Any suggestions would be welcome...thanks in advance

Have you checked for spark or tried shooting carb cleaner in the intake to see if it will fire?

This is not that clean cut, ECM failure is not that common. The battery died and that caused the no start. This could also account for the setting of that code because of loss of field charge in the alternator. A dealership can write off parts that are not bad, if they did not do the work, you are stuck with the parts. ECM is not cheap. I would check the CPS first.

I have a 2000 Chev Cavalier Z24 and it ran great until this morning. I tried to start it and the engine would not crank, there are no sounds at all. I had the battery tested and it is a good battery,...

Maybe there is something wrong with your engine .you cna check it .And you can ask the customer service to see what was wrong .

How do you reset the computer in a 1988 chev. Cavalier

If it is the same as a 1986 2.8 just simply disconect the battery cable for 5-10, minutes any codes that were set will be erased;then reconnect the cable,and drive normally for a few miles to let the computer re learn all of the information it needs to operate the engine eficently.

just a 75 series battery u can get anywhere if u store the vehicle for long periods u should use a battery tender to keep the battery healthy

Have 1997 chev cavallier z24. Engine has miss. Was told that there was low fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Have replaced fuel filter and fuel pump, both new. No check engine light comes on.

if you still have low pressure, try a new fuel pressure regulator, but a miss is usually ignition related, plugs, wires, etc.

Sounds like the signal multi-function switch has a short it it. Get a new one.

You do it from inside the trunk. You don't take out the lens, just turn the bulb socket out, and replace the bulb.

1989 Z24, 2.8v6 intermittent stalling while driving. Sometimes will restart, but not go far, sometimes will not restart at all. Usually starts fine the next day, may run OK several days before acting up...

the pcm may have a cracked board, i had an 88 cavalier z24 with the same problem, replced the ecu and it ran fine, the problem is that the boards inside the pcm crack and lose connection, the next time it acts up open the glove box and try tapping on the pcm, if the car responds at all, the pcm is bad

1994 S-10 Chev will not start.

Undo the air intake hose and see if you can get it to start by spraying carb cleaner into the throttle body. Also you said the fuel pump is fine. You have 55 psi?

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I LOOKED IT UP IN THE HAYNES MANUAL IT SAID YOU HAVE TO JACK THE CAR UP LEVEL, AND THERE IS A PLUG ON THE SIDE OF THE TRANSMITION, YOU TAKE IT OUT IF FLUID COMES OUT THEN YOU ARE GOOD.
