YOU HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET THAT IS`ALLOWING THE COOLANT TO GET DRAWN INSIDE THE CYLINDERS AND THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE WHITE SMOKE(STEAM) IT SMELLS LIKE GAS BECAUSE THE SPARK PLUGS ARE WET WITH WATER/COOLANT. HOPE THIS HELPS. SORRY FOR THE BAD NEWS. IT CAN BE FIXED BUT IT WON'T BE CHEAP. BEST OF LUCK.

Misfire smell like firecracker

The smell is way to much fuel in the exhaust and the catalytic converter is overwhelmed, it will overheat and quite possibly start the truck on fire if you don't fix the over fueling problem.

Bosch edc 5.3 fitted to MAN D2876 lf02 engine .Truck starts normal and idle ok for a while, then starts to push out white smoke frm the exhaust and runs uneven, and within seconds starts to run evenly...

try blocking off the valve that connects the inlet manifold to the exhaust and see what happens ??? or just disconnect it from the inlet manifold and try that before you remove the pump to have it overhauled ,Yes we do seem a bit short of motor vehicle categorys if not a yank it doesnt exist ,and as for the spelling¿¿¿¿ DA??? pigs tails??? fire wires??looks like we will have to re invade the colonys and teach them proper queens english .The only problem with that is and thats all the english have left the UK ,Its now a third world muslim country .Anyway best of british with it ---from spain

White Smoke that smells liek fuel, but not overheating

you're probably burning coolant. headgasket, cracked or warped head, intake manifold or gasket, or cracked block are your sources. Take it to a care car service to have it checked. Whatever it is, it's hard to diagnose just by the exhaust color. I had white smoke coming from the exhaust of the family van, it was a cracked block. That can certainly cause a multi-misfire. So have an ASE certified mechanic look it over, it could get expensive!

White smoke coming from exhaust, smells like gas

Check the fuel pressure regulator. It should have a vacuum line attached to it - disconnect the vacuum line and turn the ignition on - if fuel come out then that's your problem. DON"T do this while the engine is hot or you could start a fire!

'92 Lexus Es 300 - White smoke from exhaust and smells like gas.

It's the ECU. Very common with the early '90s lexus cars. Everyone will say head gasket, but unless your oil is milky white, it's not coolant leaking into the cylinder.
Buy an ECu on ebay for less than $100, it plugs in under the dash, just like a computer printer. Easy fix.
