I have a 2009 Kia Rio, that had the #3 cylinder not working then I got a grinding, popping sound. I'm not driving it for fear of it breaking down. What could the problem be, and the cost?

SOURCE: 2005 kia rio will not start with jumper cables

The clicking sound is either coming from the starter relay or the starter solenoid switch. If the starter makes no click then it has to come off and get new brusjhes put in it or have the solenoid replaced. You can check it by jumping the post with the battery cable fastened to it to the smaller post with the small wire on it either with a small screwdriver or a piece of wire.If it goes then, then you need the relay,if it does nothing then you need to fix the starter.

SOURCE: Kia Rio died in traffic. Will not start.

Hello Kia Owner,
Regarding the shut down, when was the last time you changed the timing belt?? Did you know that the twin cam 1.5 lirte motor needs a new belt every 50,000 miles or 80,000 kms.
If the belt has failed it may still be in tact but with the cogs ripped off.
Your valves have collided with at least one piston but it is good you were only idling at the time.
The motor may be worth fixing. I just fixed mine myself. I had to lift the engine after removing the axles. I removed the old timing belt and removed and rebuilt the cylinder head(big job). Two exhaust valves were boken right off and lying inside one cylinder.
Most likely your timing belt failed as well.

Brake pedal goes to the floor. I have a 2009 Kia Rio automatic. Has 27,000 miles on it. Basically looks new every where, under hood etc.. There have been at least two times that the brake pedal has...

you can call any dealership and give them you're vin number to see if there is any recalls on the break system. something that new would most likely not need a knew master cylinder or break buster. can also have breaks bleed. if there is an air bubble in the line this could happen. mechanic shops should be able to bleed breaks for 40-50 dollars. i would recommend picking one you trust so they don't rip you off.

I have a 2009 Kia Rio automatic. Has 27,000 miles

you don't say whether it's diesel or petrol, If diesel it has a vacuum pump to give pedal assistance, these have a valve in the pump that can cause such a problem, if however it's petrol I would suspect a master cylinder fault. Regards Mike

WHEN DOES KIA RECOMMEND TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT

my rio and spectra are recomended at 75k a (as per the kia shop) and if you take them in to a kia shop they put a fear into you that the belt are going to break any minute.ive been meaning to look in the owners manuel my self but i have looked at the blue book value of both my 03 rio andmy 04 spectra $500 and $800 in fair conditon . i think im not going to worry about it the belt and my time to put it on will be worth more then the both of them together .with 100% certainty i did find were it says to inspect every 30,000miles and replace if neccary
