HOW DO YOU DISABLE THE SEAT BELT CHIME ON A 1997 MERCUTY SABLE WA

Many manufacturers suggest that seat belts be replaced after a certain time, and many belts do go faulty. They do cost a bit of cash, but you have to weigh up cost against your life. Replace a faulty belt, the sooner the better.

sounds like a bad wire or sensor in one of the seats or connections. Check grounds and broken wires. Check inside connectors for blockage of some type.

It is part of/incorporated into the transmission range selector switch. The switch is under the hood on the transmission where the shift cable connects to the shift post. See picture

For 1997 Mercury Sable, available engines:
6 Cylinders S 3.0L SFI DOHC (found in 22% of 1997 Mercury Sable)
6 Cylinders U 3.0L SFI (found in 78% of 1997 Mercury Sable)

Is this the warninng that you are not wearing your seat belt? The way to make it stop is to wear your seat belt.

Rebuilding the transmission. That's quite a few miles on your transmission and the seals are finally letting go.

at the base of the head rest there should be a tab that you can push in that allows you to remove them.

not all sables had a harness for cd changer . if it had one it would be taped to harness above fuel shut off.

Yes there is..You have to remove the rear seat and the carpet from the trunk forward and from there you'll see the fuel pump

That door chime was driving me crazy too. It turned out to be really easy to pull the power cord from the chime. If you fold down the glove box by pulling the two plugs out from the inside, you can see the chime up behind the dash just to the left of the glove box. Just pull out the cord attached by removing the clip and you are golden.

Ahhhh. Sweet relief. I have been chime free in my accent for 2 months, and it makes for a much more enjoyable car.
