Last winter my son went to turn on the wipers on my car while the windshield wipers were frozen by ice. After defrosting the windshield, he went to turn on the wipers and they were not aligned. When he shut them off, the wipers turn off in the middle of the windshield blocking the view. I need to know how to realign the wipers. More specifically, how to get to remove the intake cover that shields the wiper motor and how to align the wipers.
Loosen the nut on top then realign them then tighten the nut. I have to do mine every time they get frozen.
You may have to remove the nut and pull them off to realign them mine has done it so many times they have become loos on the shaft, yours must be a little tighter then mine.
any luck?
OK they must be in their home position before you align them remove the wipers then turn the key on and turn the wipers on and then off. Now turn the key off and set the wipers in their home position there are little plastic holders just below the bottom of the windshield that they should be sitting on. Then tighten them down. Good Luck. This nis the Grand Prix only weekness :-)

I loosened the nuts on top as you suggested and then tightened them up again. However, there seems to be a problem with the actual mechanism because they refuse to align. I might have to check the mechanism, but I don't know how to reach it. I don't know how to remove the black screen to the air intake in order to see it.
I removed them and realigned them. When I threw the switch, they went backwards instead of forwards and misaligned again. I'm not sure if I may have to replace the motor. I hope not. It's tiring to have to manually align them every time it rains, and then loosen the bolts to park them when the rain stops. I'm at a loss.
I'll give it a shot. I'll let you know what happens. Thank you so very much for your help. :)
