The rear wheels? There are notorious to break differential pins and the trans case and would give you the problems described. Does it move at all?

  • Anonymous Apr 06, 2009

This is a caravan, correct? If one of the axles is out, the vehicle should roll free. I guess I need more info....

  • Anonymous Apr 06, 2009

Ok, if the rear wheels are locking and it is the diff on the rear axle, I would at least look at first before pulling out. If it is significantly damaged, then I would just get another and replace it.

if it is in the front diff, it is makes than likely going to need replacing the trans. It is not often that they are any good when the diff goes to pieces. Dropping the pan can usually give a good idea if it is that.

You'll have to figure out which axle has the problem. I would suspect the front which means the transaxle

While driving 2005 equinox a loud clunk comes from the rear at times

Jack up rear tires off ground. hold tire at 3 and 9 o clock position rock back and forth sharply. look for play in wheel and listen for clunking. May be wheel bearings or bushings.

My right rear wheel is locked up. I can go forward but not in reverse. About a week ago I was backing out of driveway and truck wouldn't go then made a large clunk sound. I thought I ran over something....

Sounds like a problem with rear brakes. If this vehical has drum style brakes if the brake shoe has become disconnected in some way it will usally wedge against drum in one direction or another. You need to inspect rear brakes.

Rear wheel freezes up (so far driver side only)

Could be rear brake locking up,cars arent used to going backwards or hand brake sticking on . Would look there first.
