Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear or starting relay, Have someone bang on the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging the bendix gear..
Hope this helps.

Have you checked to see if you have voltage at the starter terminals when the key switch is in the start position ?

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

1985 nissan 300z wont crank

When you switch the ignition wont start or crank, right? but did you hear a tikiting sound? if you do then the problem was your starter, either the solenoid in your starter was faulty or the starter itself might be grounder or shorted.Replace the solenoid if deffective or starter but before you do that check your battery.
Next is to check your electrical line from the ignition to the starter and also from your battery going to the starter, if there is a connectivity it means your line is good.
Next you said it has to be push to start and run but when you shut it off it wont start? It means your alternator was not charging properly, so it was deffective, the battery lost its power. replace or repair your alternator.
Hope this will help you, good luck!!!

2004 trailblazer 4.2 newer battery wont start when turning the key it does not even try to turn over when turning the key all the lights on the cluster go out and then when you let off the key they...

By your description, it sounds like the starter motor is not working proper. You can tap on the starter with a hammer sometimes to at least make the starter work. Make sure the truck wont run over you,but hold the key in the start position while tapping starter with a hammer. If the starter works ,then the starter needs to be replaced. If it doesnt work, then you will need to remove starter and have it tested before you replace it.. Let me know if that helps

Replaced starter but she still wont start

I assume you know that the starter turns over the engine,in a mechanical sense.
It has nothing to do with starting your vehicle, other than turning the ignition pulse wheel (Flywheel)

What help do you want?
Do you even work on your own vehicle?

Installed new battery, still won't start...won't even turn over. Tested the curcuits and there is current?????

hi, if when you turn the key the engine dont even turn over then this is a good indication that the starter motor needs replacing.
If the car has manual gear box you could try putting it in 2nd gear then get some one to help push the car so that the engine turns this way slightly then try starting this sometimes gets it started also you could try hitting the starter motor with a hammer this may also get it started.
First check all fuses and replace any that are blown then try again if still no joy then check the wires going to the starter motor are secure if they are then its a good chance it needs replacing.

If you have a manual box then you could put the car in 2nd gear with the igniton switched on then get someone to give you a good push or tow you down the road, keep the clutch pushed to the floor untill you have got moving quite quick then release the clutch this should then turn the engine over and fire the engine up then the car will be running, this in its self may free up the starter motor allowing it to start but be warned it will happen again so get it replaced sooner rather that later.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok.

If you have an auto box then make sure the shifter is in right place move it all the way up and down a few times then give it another try as sometimes if its slightly out of line it wont engage the starter motor.

Non starter

try replacing starter motor.
Repeatedly cranking it over only heats the the starter motor , this then softens the solder and it gets thrown, then the starter requires more power from the battery leaving insufficient for the coil pack.
Push starting give the power to the coil pack .. and the engine runs
