SOURCE: the check engine light illuminates,

HI...
THis problem is caused for
Lost of correlation between ACELERATOR PEDAL POSITION
AND THROTTLE ACTUATOR MOTOR.
Because your car has no acelerator cable.
The morer probable is the Trhottle actuator motor come damaged. 90%. 10% the accelerator pedal position.
If you turn of the car it will work OK> for a few time.
But the Service engine soon. will stay on.
Yuo can go to at ANy ADVANCE AUTOPART, AUTOZONE or NAPA AUTOPART. They make a diagnostic free.
If not. I recomend get the car scanned for see exactly why the light come on. and make the right repair procedure.

OK>> I hope this help on your question...

Thank you for use fixya.

SOURCE: Idle Problem when you slow down of come to a stop idle goes low

THis has happened to me in the past. My fix was to clean the throttle body. The problem began after my battery died. The computer was defaulted back to its original settings after replacing the battery. Once I cleaned the throttle body, everything was fine. This happened at about 85,000 miles.

SOURCE: 2004 chevy silverado

The above descriptions of the connector are very good. I washed the engine compartment yesterday, and immediately started getting the reduced enginer power code on the CIC, not performance. After reading several posts, I checked the connector on my 2003 2500HD, and found that the connector was not seated well and had gotten water in it. I cleared the water and the reconnected. The cables running from the fuse box to the connector are so short, the connector is in a bind and is pulled off-center. That is why the connector wasn't seated properly. The code went away, and the performance returned. By the way, be sure to do this after pulling the negative cable on your battery.

SOURCE: why does reduce engine power light comes on chevy

That is a hard problem to pin point without knowing what codes the computer has stored. It can be any number or sensors or engine problems.

You can go to most auto parts stores and they will pull the codes for you for free.

2007 Chevy cobalt. Stalls when ever I remotely slow down or at any stop. Studders alot and lights and raise dim out all the time. I can't even start it and keep it on without reving the engine a bit...

What engine does it have ? Could have come with three different one's . 2.0 - 2.2 - 2.4 L . That really doesn't matter i guess , all three have electronic throttle control . Do you have a check engine light lit on the instrument cluster ? Any messages on the DIC - reduced engine power ? Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop.

Cvt light on indicating over heating. Stops car lets it cool down and then completes his trip. Dealer could not identify problem or diagnose the problem.

I do not know why your local Mitsubishi dealer cannot figure this one out. What you are describing is a known problem for which Mitsubishi has published a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB).

The problem is caused by incorrect transmission fluid levels and there is an updated dipstick included in the fix.
MITSUBISHI TSB REFERENCE NUMBER: TSB-10-23-005

You may also want to talk to your son about heeding warnings from your vehicle's onboard computer system. When the CVT transmission begins to overheat, the CVT light will come on, a warning chime will sound, and the words "SLOW DOWN" will be displayed in the Muti-informational Display. This will occur LONG before the vehicle goes into "REDUCED POWER" mode. If he would slow down as he is being told to, the warnings will extinguish themselves as soon as the transmission fluid temperature drops to a safe level (which it will, if he slows down).

REDUCED POWER MODE is like an angry parent...."OK, you don't want to slow down like I told you to do, and you are going to destroy my transmission by ignoring my warnings, so I am shutting you down!!! You won't slow down, so I am slowing you down! Now, if you do not want this to continue, then you better start listening to me!"

Similar things will happen if you choose to ignore engine control or Brake/Traction Control warnings. The old days of ignoring warning lamps and running around with your dash lit up like a Christmas tree are over. There is a new sheriff in town called REDUCED POWER MODE.

Reduced power light is on and drives slow

Try adding gas line antifreeze to your fuel. If you have water in the gas, this will clear it up. Water in the gas line can turn to slush or even ice when the temperature dips below freezing, causing reduced power because of reduced fuel flow.

I have a toyota rav 4 1996 & the engine warning light has just started to come on & the car loses power as soon as the light goes on & then the light will just go off & the car runs normal...

Does it loose power all together as if the engine shuts down or does it go itnto a reduced power state?

Check all of your fluid levels. Keep an eye on all of your other gauges when this happens. Some vehicles will automatically go to a reduced power state to protect itself from damage if overheating etc.

More likely, another simple problem could be a loose connection somewhere. Start by checking your battery terminals, and any connections under the hood that can vibrate loose. Typicallly if a problem just "goes away" suddenly. It is an electrical problem.

1997 Bonneville lost power going up a long hill

The only thing that comes to mind is the catalytic convertor in the exhaust system. It can become restricted, reducing flow in the exhaust system, which also reduces engine power. These convertors run at fairly hot temperatures, and the extreme heat and conditions aggravated,or overloaded it.It's not very expensive to have it checked at a reputable muffler shop.I have seen extreme instances where this caused parts of the exhaust system to turn red, glowing hot.
