Glove box release so I can change the hepa filter on my 2006 Honda Odyssey

  • broncomom Mar 18, 2009

    Thanks for the info savdragon

I was able to release the stops, but there was a 3rd one I was having trouble with. I messed with it until I popped off the outer casing and it slid off. Glovebox went to the ground and I was able to access the Hepa Filter.

    Thanks again =)

The procedure for removing the cabin air filter lists to remove the glove box housing. You usually can either ....1 empty out glove box, look and see if there are two tabs (stops) on the box part that tilts out. Often times the plastic box can be squeeze in at both sides to clear the housing. This allows it to tilt all the way down and you're off. or 2- empty out the glove box and completely remove the assembly. This requires removing 4 to 6 screws on sides and likely on bottom to pull out whole housing. Once out the rest should be very obvious.

The pollen filters are located in the HVAC box behind the glove box. While holding the glove box open, unclip the glove box damper (left side). Then remove the glove box stops on each side, flip the glove box down. Pull the pollen filter housing from the blower unit by releasing the clips on both sides. Replace the filter in the housing make sure the arrows printed on the new filter are pointing down. Reinstall all removed parts. -hope this helps.

How do i change the cabin a/c filter in 2006 odyssey

Open the glove compartment and release the stops on either side to allow it to drop all the way down. Behind it there should be a plastic cover about 4-6" long and 1" tall with tabs on one or both sides. Remove the cover and pull the filter tray out. Replace filter (or filters) and reassemble.

Hw to change air filte rin 2007 Honda Odyssey

The problem with other web instructions is little guidance on how exactly to remove the glove box. First, the little cover over the control am needs to be pulled off (down towards you). Either fingers or a screwdriver.

Next, trickiest part is removing the retaining tabs. See instructions here: http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/AI/AII38194.pdf

Basicaly, there is no way to ge behind the glove box to compress the release tabs. So insert a scredrver into the plastic tab cover from the insider of the glove box and just pull towards you until it pops out. When reinserting just place back (with the retainer cylinders poking back through the opening from inside the glove box) and press back in until it snaps.

On the 07 Ody, once you ave the control arm released and the two retaining tabs removed, the glove box should fold down completely. Then just press towards each other the two black end tabls holding the ac filter compartment door. Took me 30 min to figure out, hopefully with this should take you 5 ...

Now watch it because you are about to dump the contents of your glove box on the floor. let the box hang freely from the lower hinge and look in the back. You will see a white panel that pulls out the panel has a tray attached with the filter element in it remove old element and replace with new 20ish bucks at the parts store lots more at the dealer. re-install filter tray and reverse your removal steps to re-install.
