Gas guage moves back and forth from emty to full with gas in it

When i fill my gas tank up on my 2000 blazer the gage will go all the way to full. Once it gets to 3/4 of a tank and in between a half a tank the needle goes to empty, and when i rock the truck the needle goes back to full? any ideas?

It sounds like the level sensor on the sender (fuel pick up pipe in the fuel tank) is getting stuck. the level sensor is a float that is attached to the sender, and you will need to remove the fuel tank to get to it.

hope this helps.

2000 chevy blazer gas pushes out of the filler necker while pumping gas

if you are having problems filling the gas it could be a couple things. first the pumps at the gas station over fill at a fast speed, try slowing them down and try moving the hose back a little to give it some breathing space instead of shoving it all the way in the gas area. next is try a different gas station, believe it or not there is a difference.

Gas gage stopped regestering below 1/2 full

mcdevito75 here, Hello john, the sending unit in the gas tank could be faulty of stuck, try leaning against one of the back fenders to move the body of the car from side to side to try to free up the sending unit. You may have to live with it unless yoyur local shop changes the sending unit in the gas tank.

Gas gage read full when empty and sometimes emty

You have a bad fuel level sensor. The fuel tank needs to come out and the sensor replaced. You don`t have to replace the pump assembly. You can get the level sensor separate.I`m not sure if the parts stores have it but I know the dealerships do.Hope this helps.Good luck.

The gas guage seems to have a mind of its own. so being inaccurate i just reset the trip meter when i fill up every time it hits 200 miles. any ideas to why it bounces back and forth from f to e no matter...

the fuel sender is at fault. these were common on that year range chevy products. the sender is in the fuel tank, as part of the fuel pump assembly. it is a very expensive unit, so a lot of people just let it go and continue to calculate mileage

sokol520--Sounds like fuel pump/fuel guage sending unit. They are integrated and located inside the fuel tank, most likely.

Fuel level sensor in tank bad????

Yes it is all one unit, and yes that is what the problem is. don't use aftermarket parts, use OEM, (Delco Remy) they are much better quality.

Fuel gauge

there is a sending unit in the tank this has probably clogged or wore out it has a filter on it, with gas debries this will make your guages stop working correctly

replace sending unit by dropping tank with gas out of tank and then pull out sending unit replace with new one
