2005 GMC Sierra Pickup - speedometer is at 60 when stopped and goes up from there as I drive
There was not a recall, but there was a class action settlement where GM agreed to extend the warranty on certain vehicles for this problem. Check www.gmspeedometerrecall.com to see if you qualify.
It's a defective Speedometer... GM will replace it in the first 75,000 miles, if it showing as broken. (Mine would drop 5 mph avery time I restarted the truck, so I had to make sure it was above zero when I finally got it replaced).

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra and the spedodmeter had the same problem (started with same issue, then stopped working completely), I heard there was a recall because of the defect and called the local GMC and was told that the 05 had not been recalled yet.
I have a 2005 GMC Sierra and the speedometer gets stuck around 40 or 50 and goes up from there. If I kill the truck and turn back on about 3 to 5 times then it eventually goes to 0.
