1990 grand prix 3.1 car originally stumbled when transitioning from acceleration to cruise and would stutter real bad, I had to either punch through it or let off the accel. and come back on it slowly. Then while driving fast down the freeway the car lost engine power but was still running could control steering just no power. Stopped and tried to restart etc.. would start and idle rough then just die upon accel.. Came back approx. 18 hours later and she started fine and ran good, not much stutter like before drove a few times nice and easy but also got up to 55-60mph. Then today I go to get on the freeway and BAM! she goes dead again did't get much past 60 if at all, had to giver and llittle to gain speed when it happened. Now she just sits. What should I do.

SOURCE: starts with boost then car dies after 1 km and won't start

once the car is started it runs off the alternator .. so even if your battery is bad the alternator will still run the car .. so it looks lilke your alternator is bad .. when you jumped the car you charged the battery a little but not enough to keep it going since the alternator is not charging . if you hook up a charger overnight then you might be able to run it long enough to get somewhere (garage) .. try to drive when you dont need lights .. those will run down the battery in a short time .. if you have a volt meter then the battery should read about 13.8 to 14.2 volts when the alternator is working properly (car running) .. if it reads lower (like 12volts or less) then the alternator is not charging .. some auto parts stores will test your system free ..

SOURCE: my car stumbles on acceleration and hesitates to

check and clean your air idle control servo motor usualy located on or right next to the throutle body. check your map sensor also. the iac. is bad about getting gummed up and sticking closed or wide open, check that your air breather tubing is hooked up good no cracks or tears. could be messing with your mas air flow sensor which plays a major role in air fuel mixture and computer controled temp sensor could be failing it acts like an automatic choke. a scanner could help you out alot if you can have a local shop scan it.

Saturn sl2 dies out when quick acceleration

If dies out you me stutters or stumbles on acceleration.
Depends on the year, it could be the maf (mass air flow) sensor in the air intake after the air filter. Or it could be the EGR valve in the early models 1990-1994 they were known for getting clogger and cause a stumble or lack of power at anything over partial throttle.

Where is the throttle position sensor located at on a 2002 pontiac grand prix

It's on the throttle body, where your accelerator and cruise cables attach, probably just opposite side of that on the throttle body assembly. Look for a sensor with a 3 wire electrical connector.

Why does my 2002 grand prix car accelerate while im driving and will not stop when the break is pressed?

Lubricate the accelerator cable from the engine back to the firewall......you will probably have to remove it from the car to get oil in between the cable and the housing . Also, check and lubricate the plates around the throttle body as well. WD-40 works well.

2002 Grand Prix: I just had my oil changed in my Pontiac 2008 Grand...

To reset "CHANGE OIL" light, turn the ignition switch to the run position without starting the engine. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. and wait for the light to flash. Check your manual it maybe slightly different. Real easy fix.

Missing and stumbling during acceleration

4.2 ltr missing. 2000 truck, f150. Changed plugs, wires. Ran great for 2 weeks. Started again. Changed coils. Got worse. Changed fuel filter, did nothing. Added injector cleaner and fuel cleaner, nothing. Checked EGR, o.k. It is getting worse. Had new gas about the time it all started.
