Automatic car in D4 while turning sharp left and right makes a growling sort of noise from the rear of the car.I tried the fluid level in the rear diferential,it was a bit low and took 180ml extra fluid,i blocked up the rear left hand side and rotated the wheel as the manual directed all seems ok.the noise is still there.
If you change the rear diff oil your problem will be fixed. Would also pay to use genuine Honda oil as per your manual..
Does the noise have any sort of metallic sound to it? I had a '97 CR-V and when I turned hard right or left it would slighty bind the exhaust sytem. Just enough over time to cause the spot welds on the heat shield over the resonator (the "muffler" behind the catalyst) to fail. When I'd turn sharp, the heat shield would lift slightly due to the failed welds and vibrate against the resonator. Took a bit of head scratching to find this one.
Take care.
Hi
Sounds more a rear wheel bearing problem ?
Check for excessive play, and noise from both rear wheel bearings and hubs, with the vehicle jacked up and supported safely.
Good Luck !
A FixYa rating would be nice...Thanks... John.
