Battery drains overnight.

Has new battery. No draw on alternator. All lights turn off. Sometimes draw is .23 amp. Other times 3.6 amp. Battery draining sometimes overnight. Has over 3 amp draw. When #11 fuse removed (ac clutch relay feed) under the hood the draw stops. Also have climate control issue. After driving for 30 min or so. The air stops blowing into the cab. Fan is running but no air comes out. This occurs in heat and air cond mode. Seems like damper doors close off.

Battery is new and clean. Problem was aic cond clutch relay was sticking. Removed relay and switched with horn relay. Horn then honked. Relay was sticking.. Now is not draining. Ordered new relay from auto zone.$44. I have inductive amp meter from sears. That can tell you where and how much draw there is.

SOURCE: Acura MDX A/C won't come on

I went to an Acura dealer to buy the transistor for the rear A/C unit. The service advisor told me that the problem with the front A/C was probably due to a defective front transistor / resistor. I bought that part too.

The front transistor is located next to the blower motor under the dash on the passenger's side. It is secured by three or four small bolts. The one on the bottom left is very close to the carpet and the most difficult to get off and put back on.

The rear transistor is located behind the carpeted trim panel on the center console (driver's side). The carpeted trim panel is secured by clips only - there are no screws, so remove it carefully starting at the side near the accellerator pedal. Once the panel has been removed, reach inside a small hole in the metal frame to access the rear transistor. It is removed by twisting it and pulling it out. The hole in the frame is small and you might find pliers helpful.

After replacing both parts, the front and rear A/C are working. Apparently these transistors are common failures. If the A/C is out in your Acura MDX and the fuse checks good, a new transistor will likely solve your problem.

Regulator in alternator obviously faulty, have it bench tested & fixed or replace alternator, and cure your problem.

Amp draining battery overnight.have new battery and new alternator.switch off everything and still draws amp flatting battery

The luggage compartment light is often forgotten and causes this problem.

If that proves ok you have to discover which circuit is drawing the current by initially removing each fuse in turn and connecting an ammeter across the fusebox terminals. The task of locating and rectifying a current drain is typically either ridiculously simple or complex and time consuming and require lots of dismantling and a good wiring diagram.

Why does battery drain ?

there are several reasons...not enough cells in a weak battery(not enough cold cranking amps in battery to turn the car over). Check your alternator as well. Does the temperature drop? Sounds like you need a new battery(also when you turn off your car- TURN OFF EVERYTHING...sometimes a radio, or something not turned off(even a trunk light, interior light, security system(various things)- can zap the juice from your battery overnight or within hrs.-leaving not enough to start the car the next day....Hope that helps....Xx, Jasmine

Battery always running down..the car has a draw on the battery even after turned off. New alternator and battery still drains over night.

Check for interior lights at hat are on, do it at night. Common issues are lights in the sun visors, trunk and hood are also common as is console and glove box lights.

2004 Dodge Durango. When it set over night there is not enough charge in the battery to turn over the engine. The battery is one and half years old.

Maybe the alternator is not charging the battery up well. To test, put a voltmeter on the battery, engine running. If voltmeter is less than 13.5 volts, suspect a weak alternator-have it tested.
If charging system and alternator is good-charging between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts, have the battery tested. Even though not old, it may have a dead cell. A parts store can load test it and see.
If battery and alternator are both good, you may have an unintended drain on the battery. You can check this by, first charging up the battery, then leave the negative terminal off the battery overnight. If it starts good next day, there may be a drain, something like a glove box light, an under hood light, a radio amp left on.
Post back if you want help with finding an unintended drain.

10 amp draw draining battery overnight on 99 tahoe

I have done this before, put about a 10 amp charger on the battery. Pull the courtesy light fuse first. Look at the battery charger, it is probably charging several amps, pull one fuse at a time. When the charging amps drops down you found the fuse the controls the problem. I had a car several years ago that someone pulled the seat belt all the way out, somehow it was pulling a load and draining the battery overnight.

Draw on battery when car on

First disconnect the battery overnight just to make sure the battery is not self discharging......if it's dead or down in charge while disconnected....time for a new one.
Now.....if the battery is good....disconnect one battery cable and place a 12 volt test light between the cable and the battery post the cable had just been attached to. A bright light means a drain in the car.
Your job is to remove one fuse at a time until the light dims.
A dim light is OK...clock memory etc.
Remember....a open car door is a drain......the dome light.....so keep them closed while pulling fuses.
Also....if the fuses don't show a drain......disconnect ALL wires from the alternator....there could be a drain there.
Just keep disconnecting one thing at a time until the light goes out or dims.
