There is a red positive battery connection in the fuse box under the hood. Connect the neg side to ground on the car. Then jump start the car.

SOURCE: 2008 toyota prius wont start

Try filling the fuel tank with strawberry douch and then hit the start button. It will fire right up and run as good as new.

SOURCE: 2009 prius battery dead (we think). No lights, very dim check eng

Yes you can slowly charge the battery in the truck, but make sure the battery is disconnected first, make sure you unhook the neg first then the positive, and when reinstalling it hook the positive back up first the the negative you want absolutely no sparks.I have also had to jump start these vehicles at that battery and had the owners drive them 50+ miles and they were fine after that. For those cars it is recommended that they have to be driven or started for a length of time every day or two.I would call your local Toyota dealer and find out for sure.

Hi I have Toyota Prius alpha hybrid 2014 my Auxiliary battery dead some time live but on battery say no add water but there is no water inside battery normally all battery are with water please help me...

The main hybrid battery used in the Toyota Prius hybrid, including the Prius Alpha, is a high-voltage nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack. Unlike regular maintenance that involves adding water, this battery pack does not require such maintenance. However, there is a smaller 12-volt auxiliary battery that is responsible for powering the accessories and starting the car, which may require maintenance.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and address the issue:
  • Check the Auxiliary Battery Health:
  • Start by having the 12-volt auxiliary battery tested to ensure it's holding a charge and functioning properly. If the auxiliary battery is old or not holding a charge, it may need to be replaced.
  • Inspect Battery Terminals:
  • Ensure the battery terminals are clean and securely connected. Dirty or corroded terminals can prevent the battery from charging and delivering power.
  • Charge the Auxiliary Battery:
  • If the battery is low on charge, you can charge it using an appropriate battery charger. Make sure to follow the charger's instructions and safety precautions.
  • Check Charging System:
  • Ensure that the vehicle's charging system (alternator) is functioning correctly. If the alternator is not charging the auxiliary battery properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Consult a Professional:
  • If the issue persists or if you're unsure about handling electrical components, it's best to consult a professional mechanic or a Toyota service center. They can diagnose the issue accurately and provide appropriate solutions.
Remember, the main hybrid battery (the one that powers the electric drive) in a Toyota Prius is sealed and does not require adding water. It's the 12-volt auxiliary battery that might need maintenance or replacement.

Why is my 2008 prius not starting?

It could be your battery. You could jump your car, and then have the car taken to a local shop to be diagnosed. Replacing the battery could be a costly repair, depending on the battery. Good luck.

I have been away and left my 2008 Prius in the garage. Upon returning 3 weeks later, the battery is dead. Is it able to be jump started?

Yes. See your owners manual but the terminal for jumping it is in the fuse box under the hood on your right as you are facing the engine.
