My MPV won't shift into park

If it won't shift from park my first question would be how do you get it Into neutral? Sounds like you may have a gear selector sensor issue .

get a haynes repair manual at your local auto parts store or on ebay,it will tell you everything you need to know to fix your own vehichle

Check the mechanism inside the gear lever thumb button in case it has failed.

shift interlock is not working at shifter key wont turn to come out unless signal from switch tells it is in park.

Most newer models have a safety feature called
shift interlock. This prevents the key from being turned back
to the lock position if you forget to place the gear selector in park.
Depending on the model,
If it uses a cable, it may be sticking or needs adjusting.
If it uses an electrical solenoid. may be blown fuse or park switch.
Tap, shake, and pull up on the shifter and make sure it's in park.

WHERE YOUR SHIFTER IS YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT APART ..MAYBE THE RUBBER BOOT IS IT THE WAY,OR THE SHIFT LOCK SELINOID WHENT BAD

2001 MAzda MPV- Key was stuck in ignition. Would not turn all the way back to remove. I pulled the fuse for the Hazards and WHOLA!! Key turned back and could be removed.! Just to test the problem I put the key back in , started up , pulled up and back a few feet, turned the steering wheel and parked. Key was stuck again. I pulled the fuse and again ... WHOLA! key was released. Now what I need to do is fix the problem or I have to pull a fuse every time I stop the car - ANY ADVICE??

Press shifter up past park to loosen lock. Or try wiggling it. If this doesn't work, which it should, then try lightly tapping around ignition with a ballpeen hammer to loosen up the pins.

USE A WRENCH AND STREACH THE KEY HOLE WORKED FOR ME!!!

make sure the car is completly in park, jam the shifter into park and see if it locks, if it does, then your linkage is off wack, it needs to be realighned.
