On most vehicles there is a big "screw" slightly recessed on the the throttle body. You can use a flat head screwdriver to adjust this screw. Usually turning left raises rpm while turning right lowers. It is also best to do this with the engine running so you can hear as it changes and also it will allow you to see on the rpm guage how high or low it has gone. make sure to note the rpms before you begin. it is a possibility the potension meter does not working. It is on the accelerator pedal,by using a scanner surely you will get the correct fault.

Rough idle / what is correct idle 25 td. swb pajero

I have a 98 Montero Sport and to adjust the idle all I needed was a phillips screw driver. Check owners manuel for Idle speed and remember to have lights off when adjusting. Also it showed the idle range posted on the hood underneath.
