SOURCE: 04 cts transmission fluid never changed now at

Do nothing if everything seems OK. Drain and refill, but never flush, you will stir up gunk in the pan, if you have hard or sluggish shifts

SOURCE: Need to add transmission fluid in Cadillac CTS

tod34 is correct. The "fill" area of this transmission is located on the transmission itself. It is a fluid leveling plug located low on the main case toward the back of the trans. You must pump the fluid in through that hole. If you are on level ground and the transmission is properly warmed, you should fill the transmission until the fluid level is flush with the bottom of the hole (starts spilling out)

SOURCE: How do I add transmission fluid to a 2004 Cadillac

Dont think you can for this model its a special tool used and only the dealer has this tool ,its to stop you from doing it yourself and create work for the dealer .many europeon vehicles now use this type of filler where its pumped up from underneath and sensor within the box via OBDII tell the operator when to stop filling .Its known as progress

SOURCE: TRANSMISSION WONT GO INTO GEAR ON MY 2004 CADILLAC DEVILLE HOW MANY QUARTS DOES IT TAKE TO RE-FILL TRANSMISSION AFTER CHANGING OUT FILTERS

3 GALLONS is a lot,Are you sure it's not 3 quarts, which isn't enough. If it is gallons then drain it out because you going to damage the pump, if it is quarts then keep adding until it shows up on the dipstick at the bottom, then after it has been driven add as needed to get it to the full mark. ONLY use dexron fluid!!!!

Most like you need to flush the transmission and I would put one quart of Lucas transmission fluid in too. It will help with changing of gears.

I have only 21500 miles on my 2004 F 15 351 engine. I have never changed the trans fluid or antifreeze. Should I consider doin so?

Yes.
While the truck has low mileage, the fluids are still almost 10 yrs old.
As the truck sits, moisture builds up inside the engine and other components, and acids eat away at the metals in the cooling system and transmission.
Its a good idea to change the fluids every 3 or 4 years regardless of the mileage. Especially if the vehicle is parked for long periods of time or takes short trips.

2004 Cadillac CTS won't go into gear -

I will quess that there is a 90% chance, you will have to
pull the transaxle & have it rebuilt

From here forward, you change your trans fluids every three
years ,along with the power steering. That will fail next.

ALL VEHICLES---- get their transmissions & power steering
changed,NOT FLUSHED every 30,000 miles ALWAYS

Flushing will cause problems

WHEN IM DRIVING, IT POPS OR JERKS ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THEN WONT SHIFT GEARS. WHEN IM ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT DOES THIS, IT WILL BARELY GO 55 MPH.

Your transmission fluid is dangerously low (tranny is dry). The pops & jerks are the transmission
internal components trying not to seize onto each other due to lack of lubrication and/or overheating.
Low transmission fluid leads not only to loss of lubrication but lots of overheating (of the tranny).
The loss of Elantra performance (speed tops out at 55), is caused by power loss due to friction inside the transmission. All your power is lost overheating the transmission (toward destruction), instead of
being transmitted through the transmission to the wheels.

The 2004 Elantra takes Hyundai SP-III Automatic Transmission Fluid, with 8.4 quarts used in a
total refill - but just 5 quarts at a fluid change. For How-to transmission fluid change instructions:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Hyundai-Repair-815/2004-Elantra-GT-transmission.htm

www.autozone.com claims that 2004 Hyundai Elantra can take these non-Hyundai ATF's:
Lucas Semi-Synthetic Multivehicle ATF
Pennzoil Muilt Vehicle ATF
Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc ATF
Castrol High Mileage ATF

Tune up

No tune up required until 100,000 miles. If you are at that mileage change the spark plugs. Change the fuel and air filters. Inpect the brakes, exhaust system and suspension. Change the brake fluid and transmission fluid. Change the engine coolant.
