What is th e canister between the block and the oil filter? I got a leak at that piece. dont know what it is called. Has a hose attached to it. The oil leake is between that canister and the block
Is this an Accord EX? The canister is an oil cooler; there is a seal between it and the block. The cooler is attached with a single large bolt in the center that also has the threads on which the filter is installed.

The oil is most likely leaking from the oil cooler seal. The oil cooler is the square aluminum piece that the oil filter screws onto. To replace the seal, remove the filter, remove both coolant hoses that attach to the cooler, remove the nut that secures the cooler to the block and slide the cooler off the tube. Replace the rubber o-ring seal which is available at the VW dealer. It's inexpensive. Replace everything in reverse order. Good luck
Could be coming from the oil pump or even the valve cover gasket. That's about it for oil.I recently had a leak in the dipstick tube. Are you overheating?Do you have to add oil?If so,how much and how often? Thanks,Greg
probably your lower rad hose. shine a flashlight around underneath and see if you see it reflecting off of a liquid trail, that will tell you where the leak is coming from. you can also get leak tracer to add to your coolant that will leave a more visible sign.
Check the evaporative charcoal canister. When working properly, it prevents gas vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. If the engine has been flooded, or gas tank overfilled, it's possible that the charcoal is saturated w/ gas. If this is the case, it should be replaced. Also check the hoses to and from the canister for cracking or damage, which for a 91 is quite possible.
Make sure that the oil filter is tight. Usually they only leak if dirt was in the gasket when the filter was installed or the filter wasn't tightened enough.
is it an ex?
is it a bad leak?
it could be 2 things
1) oil pressure sending unit above the filter
2) "o" ring between the oil cooler and block on ex models only. the oil cooler is between the filter and block with 2 coolant hoses attached to it. also might be the oil filter. i replace alot of sending units and oil cooler o rings.
thank you very much
