Would a blown power side mirror fuse affect the interior lights of my 2004 xterra?

My friend tried installing an aftermarket stereo , screwed up and couldn't figure it out, so i took it to best buy and they installed it, but the guy said my interior lights were messed up and wouldnt come on. i checked under my dash in the fuse box and the acces fuse was fine, but the power side mirror fuse was blown. i switched it, would that have anything to do with the interior lights not working? its daylight and i cant check if it fixed the problem yet.

SOURCE: Dashboard lights not working

No insult intended, but are you sure the lights on dash aren't just dimmed out? I fell for that one when it went through the car wash. Wiping down everything one of them rolled the dash dimmer. Good luck. And that inj looks like an abreviation for injector. That needs to be looked into cause something or an injector is shorted. good luck

SOURCE: Running Lights, Rear Lights and Dash Lights not working

Running lights in front sides of vehicle short out in time. I simply disconnected the plugs found inside the front wheel wells and packed them with grease for time being. When the weather improves I will find the chaffed insulation and repair. Replaced the 15amp fuse found under the hood and shwing, back on the road.

SOURCE: 2005 nisson altima interior lights not functioning

Hopefully you've gotten your car fixed by now, but mine just did the same thing today 4/25/2010. While changing the dome light, I blew the 10 amp 'Batt Saver' fuse located inside the car driver side fuse area. The mini fuses in the interior are nearly impossible to check if they are blown without a tester. I bought a cheap one for $5 at AutoZone and discovered. Once replaced, all worked fine. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem I had today.

The lights are powered by the dimmer switch in the headlight switch box. Power goes from there thru a 10amp fuse number 12 marked ILLUM in the interior fuse box.
Then it goes out to the lights.
You would need to know if you have power at that fuse.

Taillights go out when dome light is on

I'm not an expert on the electrical part of the 04 maxima. But I noticed on one of the websites I normally visit that it could be a blown bulb on the passenger side vanity mirror. Here's the quote:

2004 Maxima Tail Lights and Parking Lights fuse blows when interior dome light is on Discovered that my tail lights and parking lights fuse (next to the window washer box which took me a couple of hours to find!) would blow everytime I turned interior dome light on. First I thought it was my Ipod and then maybe moisture was getting in through a small crack in the left rear tail light. Sat in my car last night with a box of fuses and did everything one at a time. It was the turning on of my dome light that caused the fuse to blow. It was instant. I have a blown bulb in the passenger side vanity sun-viser flap. I will change that tomorrow and post an update.

He hasn't updated on the results of changing his vanity mirror bulb. I hope this helps...I hate car electrical problems...So hard to diagnose...

Changing raido 2004 chevrolet radio

it's clips and screws - some of them a pain in the rear end to get at.  You have to remove the cup holders to get at the screws to the sides of them.  then it will just pull out (it will likely take some persuasion)
also,a couple side notes - most aftermarket radios will require a separate power feed from the fuse panel on the passenger side.  (easy to run - but you will have to pull the glovebox.  (and while you're there - it's a great time to replace the 2 cabin air filters).
2nd sidenote - you will likely have people tell you that you have to purchase an adaptor box to plug in, as the "airbag is controlled by the factory stereo", or the horn, headlights, interior lights etc is controlled via the stereo.  They are full of it - the horn is a simple circuit, controlled by the button in the steering wheel, and the airbag is controlled by the computer.  the stereo controls the music.... that's it!

No interior lights or power mirror working.

The fuse for the interior lights has a yellow plastic holder
covering it. Full the holder all the way out, fuse and all, with a needle nose pliers.
Replace the fuse. Disconnect the power to the radio you put in before you do this. Replace with new fuse. Check lights. If light work, plug in radio. If fuse blows, radio connection is bad (grounded hot wire). Fix wiring, replace fuse, and try again.
You could also have messed up the multi-function switch
(turn signal switch). EVERYTHING go's through this piece of crapo switch, and it costs a fortune to replace. Do the wiggle test on the switch, wiggle it while trying the things that do not work, front to back of truck, NOT up and down like your turning the switch on, the opposite way, front to back of truck. If things flassh off & on that stopped working, yopu found the problem. DONT pusy too hard, push gently on end of stalk, there is a lot of leverage there!
