New Century - DashBoard Problems

Has anyone with a 1997 Century had this problem yet? The car is new (only 3500 miles), while doing 60 on the highway the dashboard indicators went screwy. The first indicator had the anti-lock break light on plus the "service vehicle soon". The speedometer as waving back and forth between 50 and 70. And the gas guage, which was full ( i had just filled it) went to the empty position. This only happened once but I am wondering if this is a know cronic problem. John () I have a 99 Buick Lesabre. The tach wavers, the speedometer dies, and none of the other gauges can be trusted. I have no idea what to do but I know I can't drive it very well without at least a speedometer.

My 1999 Buick Regal was doing the same sort of thing. Randomly the gauges would go crazy and then the engine would shut down. I ended up replacing the ignition switch. Not exactly where the key goes in, but the switch box behind it on the inside of the column. I had to take off the steering wheel, air bag and everything, but it hasn't had any problems like that since.

Yes, this is very important maintenance procedures. Transmission should be serviced (filter, oil, and oil pan gasket replaced) @ 60K miles, plugs at 100K miles (I'd replace them early for better gas mileage), and radiator flushed @ 60K miles. Hopefully this helps!!

They probably wont fix it now that the warrantys are up. Sure they'll fix it if you pay them the $3500. Save the 3500 and put it towards a toyota. I have a 88 Toyota P/U with 156,000 miles. Runs like it just came off the lot brand new. Only thing i've had to do is replace the brake master cylinder
