Ignition trouble shoot

Hey Ron,
AN internal combustion engine requires three (3) things to run...assuming the internals are good.
1. Adequate compression >120PSI
2. A properly timed spark
3. A proper fuel/air ratio

Start with one, and eliminate one at a time(make sure it works) - ..(this is the way a professional would trouble shoot an engine).

What is next on trouble shooting fuel injectors?

what engine?

Do you have power to the injectors? if not check the ECM1 fuse. If blown check the wiring harness around the throttle body for pinched wires to the injectors. Really common on the early throttle body engines.

Trouble shooting 1990 toyota corolla fuel system, car runs then stop

To trouble shoot the fuel pressure you will need a fuel pressure tester, now if you dont have one start the vehicle (if it starts) open the gas cap and listen for the fuel pump it should humm and you will be able to here it. with thhe vehicle running you should be able to hear it and if it shuts off the car will stall, if it doesnt and the vehicle stall out you need to look elsewhere

1990 jeep yj 4.2 straight 6 carburated will turn over but will not start

First try shooting some starting fluid in intake manifold, and if fires up but still won't keep running, my guess next would be your looking and checking out your fuel pump. You can check that out my removing a line and see if fuel is pumping out of the out put of fuel pump. Because it it carburated its pretty easy to trouble shoot. It's going to be in most cases spark plugs , fuel pump.

Have a bad coil checked codes and this one came up p0705 along with the coil code p0301. are both of these do it yourself jobs for a mechanical minded person??

P0705 Transaxle Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input).
The transmisison range switch is located on top of transmission, below the shaft where the shift cable is attached.

P0301 Misfire detected - Cyls. 1-4.
Faulty spark plug or wire

Faulty coil (pack)

Faulty oxygen sensor(s)

Faulty fuel injector

Burned exhaust valve

Faulty catalytic converters

Running out of fuel

Poor compression

Defective computer

This should at least narrow down the isseus.

Best of luck!

1996 GMC Jimmy Need help trouble shooting. Turns over but won't

Fuel pump or injector assembly. Need to know what the fuel pressure is before throwing a part at it. By what you are saying I'm leaning tword the fuel pump. Make sure the wires at the top of the sending unit are not burn. There is a small 4 wire connector on the inside of the sending unit. If it's burnt you will need to replace both the pump and sending unit.
