Gear shift changes fine, just like it should, and clutch works great too. But I try to put in in 1st thru 5th or in reverse, and the shift moves, but the car won't. It acts like it's trying to move forward but then stops like it's catching on something and bounces back. Just put new gear fluid in it so that's not the problem. Clutch is fine. I was told it was the ******. If it's the ******, where can I find a transmission rebuild kit for cheap?
SOURCE: 1991 Caprice No reverse. Moves in neutral. All forward gears OK.
What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

The Syncro is worn. Fluid will not help. I'm afraid it's time for a rebuild or another used transmission from a junkyard.

It's a V6, non turbo. I'm an 18 year old girl just starting to learn about cars. My dad has been working on mine, I just bought it a month ago. I don't know much about it yet other than it's a 1985, V6, and non turbo.
