2006 Cobalt battery went dead, jumped it and got charge, no start

My 2006 Cobalt battery went dead. We jumped it and got power to it but it won't start. Dash icon shows engine lock, and info panel says low power and engine lock. How do I reset this so the thing will start?

When my battery died, I actually had the jump the car via the battery and not under the hood. Connect your jumper cables directly to the battery both negative and positive. Wait 5-10 minutes and start. timh785 you have activated your anti theft device. Try locking and unlocking the car with the remote and see if that works. If not there is a section in the owners manual that deals with this.

I have Chevy Cobalt 2006. Won't start. Ket appears stocked can't pull out. What's the problem?

A battery indicating only 5.6 volts will never start that vehicle. Battery voltage should at least be 12.3 volts if you want to reliably start the car.

2006 Chev Cobalt won't crank...no lights, no sounds nothing. When tried to get the key out it won't go past the ACC position? Any ideas on the problem?

Is the battery dead? Check your battery condition and connections. Check your starter fuse from there. Check the connection to the starter then progress to the ignition side of the concern

I have a Chevrolet Cobalt 2007, I recently changed the battery Dec. 8 and it was fine. New Years Eve, I went to the store and when I came out it was dead. The lights would turn on and so would my ac, but...

It sounds like the alternator is weak or has gone bad, if you can jump start it take it to your local auto parts store and have them test alt/charging system. Lights & fans don't draw that much power but windows and locks require more. Sounds like you've been running on battery power from 12/8

Drove to work this morning in my 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS with no problems. Listened to the radio without starting the car for 15 minutes while I fiddled with my blackberry - at one point, the radio led went...

Sounds like your battery is dead. Most batteries last about two to three years. I suspect maybe yours has a couple of dead cells. You will need a hydrometer a device we use to test each cell. When you pick one up at the parts store pry open the caps off of the top of the battery. Next squeeze and hold the bulb on the hydrometer and stick the meter into each opening in the battery and release and make a notation of where the little ball in the meter is located. This will tell you that you have one or more cells dead and the battery will need replacing. Good Luck.

Batterty dead. Check engine light/Antifreeze pouring

The main problem could be a well known cobalt ignition issue. check all fuses, wires, and connections if you've worked on cars before and call to see if you still have any warranty left. This should be handled by a chevy dealer or chevy trained mechanic...to isolate the issue fast and avoid repeat visits to get er done.

Car won't start

Can you turn on the lights? If not, then the battery is dead. Time to get a jump.
