Mazda 2002 MPV cylinder 3 missfire

Replaced all spark plugs with bosch super platinum when i got a cylinder #3 misfire code; replaced cylinder #3 coil; continued to run ragged, got a cylinder #6 misfire code, replaced coil for Cylinder #6, then drove 39 km, and it started running ragged again, check engine light came on, and it is again reading cylinder 3 misfire again.

    no...no indication like this at all....this is maddening...no other clues, other than i started misfiring..gave a cylinder 3 misfire code, we replaced all the plugs, and put in a cylinder 3 coil; it was still running ragged, but no check engine light to give us a code; about 50 km later, check engine light comes on, gives a cylinder #6 misfire..put in new coil, runs for 39 km, then w/o driving it for about 3 days, get in to drive, check engine begins flickering, then staying on, then flickering, runs ragged/missfires, then gives a cylinder #3 missfire code again! what do I do..i am afraid to drive the van any more

    what motor is in . lets do a test on the injectors.. take out any injector and swap it with number injectorand put number 3 where you took the other out. please be careful of the o rings.. start is and check leaks and drive it,and if the light come back on ,and if it is now the cylinder that you put the number 3 in..then you have a bad injector. but if it is still coming up with cylinder 3 then you have a stuck valve.iI am self employed,and I do a lot of head gaskets and motor rebuilds. if you want add me on facebook send you my link, when you are on my page just comment on it and I will add you.maybe easy to go through your problem thank you tedhttps://www.facebook.com/TedsRepairs

SOURCE: #5 cylinder misfire

I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.

2000 mazda mpv 2.5 cylindar 1 missfire code replaced spark plugs, plug wires,coil pack, and injecter on cylendar one, is there a sensor somewhere that could be the cause?

Could be low compression on that cylinder. Do a compression check. Also see if there a vacuum source connected to that cylinder that may cause a miss.

Vehicle is hesitating, like it is going to cut off.

There are a few things that can cause an engine misfire and hesitation. Does your van have a CoP ignition system? (Separate ignition coils for each spark plug) Or coil pack? You may have bad ignition coil(s); that would cause a misfire. If you have a dirty/clogged/leaky fuel injector for cylinder 3, that could also cause a misfire condition. When you replaced all the spark plugs, did you look at the plug from cylinder 3? Did they all look the same? Sometimes you can get clues to what is going on in your cylinder by how the spark plug looks: if it's white or glazed you are running too lean and could indicate fuel injection problem, if it's got burnt oil on it and it's sludgy you may have a leaky gasket or worn piston ring that is letting oil up into the combustion chamber and fouling the plug, causing a misfire. If your check engine light comes back on and it's the same misfire code, have the coil for cylinder 3 checked to see if it's weak or bad. Or you can do a home remedy check and swap a known good ignition coil from another cylinder to 3, reset the code, and see if the misfire moves to another cylinder. If it does, you know the coil is bad. You can pick up an ignition coil for pretty cheap on the internet ($30-$70) if that's the problem and they're simple to install (a pain if they're on a cylinder that's under the intake manifold, but just because you have to unbolt a bunch of stuff to get to it...time consuming but not too difficult). I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute and had a couple of ignition coils go bad, causing misfires. This seems to be a semi-common problem for early 2000's Mazdas.

I have a mazda mpv 2000 minivan.problem code p0301 misfire detected cylinder#1

I'd check #1 spark plug.
Usually a misfire code "fix" is a spark plug, spark plug wire, or a coil pack / distributor.
Keeping it simple...I'd go with the spark plug first and then look at the condition of the wires.

Hope this helps...

Mazda mpv 2004 code p0304

Engine missfire Cylinder #4

P0300 at P0304 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire
Technical Description
Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

What does that mean?
Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

Symptoms may include:
* the engine may be harder to start
* the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
* other symptoms may also be present

Causes
A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Faulty spark plugs or wires
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector(s)
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
* Faulty camshaft position sensor
* Defective computer

Possible Solutions
If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Hope help with this (remember comment and rated this).

I have a mazda MPV 2002 with cylinders 2 and 3 misfiring. Which cylinders are these if I'm facing the engine from the front?

cylinders 2/3 are on the back side of the engine. You will have to remove the intake plenum to gain access to the plugs/coils. If you are going to go thru all of that you may want to replace all the rear coils/plugs because if the vehicle has over 60k they are going to go bad.

Cylinder 4 is misfiring. Take it to a mechanic and have them take a look at it. Im guessing its the distributor, Spark plug, or spark plug wire on cylinder 4
